| So tonight I got my girlfriend another model (Sorcerer in Terminator armor), and while she was selecting her close combat weapon, I realized I wasn't entirely sure if force weapons can be ANY close combat weapon. I re-read the main rule book and it doesn't say what type of weapon a force one is, just that it's treated as a power weapon. I know some Space Marine Librarians have staffs, while others have axes or swords. But, could it also be a non-power weapon like a chainsword, or could it be a powerfist/chainfist? So can a force weapon be a chainsword, powerfist or chainfist? |

| Well, I agree with the chainsword part, but the Chaos Terminator Sorcerer has a pretty badass double-bladed chainfist which I think would surely be allowed. I just need it confirmed. |

Blog Entries: 1 | Yes, that is a nice chainfist. I'm not sure that it can be used as a force weapon, as it would double Str. and get the 2d6 for armour pen. If you were to just count it as a power weapon, I guess that would work, but I'd just put it on another Termie and arm the sorcerer with a sword or axe, heck even a mace or moringstar!

As long as the blades are covered in runes, and the fist, and the opponent knows, then there is no legal game problem. You'll get rules lawyers who piss, moan and whine. But they are generally the ones running Lysanderwing + ass-can of doom army combos, so their opinion = zilch anyway.

To use my classic example... Say I want lightning claws on a veteran sergeant... But I don't want to use actual lightning claws, and wanted to have him dual wielding swords. So long as the swords are both painted w/ power fields are something to mark them out as power weapons, and suitably ornate, the 'counts as' rule allows me to make the sarge dual wield swords that are actually lightning claws. You just have to point out the model to your opponent and tell him what the actual wargear is. Be sure, however, to use this rule sparsely... Over using it is kinda cheesy.

Blog Entries: 1 | if i look accross the table and see a model with a power fist or chainfist then i'm gonna want it to be a power/chainfist when it starts hitting me. but if i see that it's marked out as different in some way from normal power/chainfists, and i'm told that it counts as something else then i ain't gonna have a problem and most other gamers won't either. just make it stand out from the normal and tell the opponent. bottom line is that they're your models, or hers in this case. if someone else has a problem with them it's just that; their problem!

Blog Entries: 1 | See, I didn't even know you could actually count the CF as a Force Weapon. Ya learn something new every day! Still, the axe was a good choice. Is the model gonna have the cape?

Blog Entries: 1 | I would suggest it. The model looks kinda thin without it. Force axe has a nice ring to it. May it kill many loyalists! ![]()
