Default Squad Makeup

alright since im investing alot of points and time into my command squad for my space marines i wanted them to look very cool and especially since they are all veteran sergeants i wanted it to look like it.

so heres pretty much what i have built so far. i would post pics put i do not have any legs for them yet.

the vet sergeant has the power axe and a combat shield and looks alot like a young Lysander.

sorry im getting off point

anyway

ther veterans go like this

1: 2 chainswords and a bolt pistol holster
2: 2 bolt pistols
3: 2 bolt pistols but with them pointed upward and his head is turned to the side so as to peer around a corner.
4: bolt pistol and chainsword
5: grenade hand and bolt pistol
6: power axe and boltpistol

now as one can obviously see a few of these models have a number of weapons they usaully couldnt. ie 2 chainswords and 2 boltpistols.

if i treated them all as having 1 close combat weapon and 1 bolt pistol aside from those with power weapon or close combat shield is this still ok?

I would say this would be fine, so long as you take step to model them. I.E. for 2 chainswords, have a bolt pistol holster (check! you done did it!). The only other thing is to make sure on your two bolt pistol model you inform your opponent beforehand. I'm not sure this woudl be tourney legal (dual pistols), but it will look very nice!

yeah ive already gotten the holster for the 2 chainswords. as for the 2 with the dual pistols ill just rumage through my bitz and find a mace or sword and glue it to their backs or a leg or something.

my favorite one is one of the dual pistols. if you have ever seen an action movie right before the hero rushes into a room with guns a blazing. right before that he is usually has his back to a wall looking to his right. now both of his pistols are out and ready to be used. this is so freaking awesome and i love how it turned out. as soon as im finished im defeintly going to post some pics.

thanks erus i really just wanted to know if what i was doing was ok.

you claim the 'counts as' rule in this case. so for example, a model that's posed to be firing duel bot pitols would still effectively have a bolt pistol which he can fire, and a close combat weapon he can club evil-doers with!

the only thing to make perfectly clear is which models are obviously the specialists such as the veteran sergeant with the shiny power toy!

again, you could model everyone with power toys if you'd like, but obviously most would 'count as' plain ccw's. to differenciate the real power toy on the sergeant, you might paint it say red while the rest are painted say a light blue...

and yes, this is compleatly tournament legal now! just so long as it's clear to your opponent which model/s have the actual special weapons/upgrades and that you've paid the pts for everything!

cheers!

The models sound awsome! I bet that some of these ideas could be carried over to some sort of Inquisitiorial army because, IMO, they seem like a much more undercover society than the Space Marines. I only say this because your description brought The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremecy to mind. Those movies had some cool dual pistol action!

Templar Mikeel: well i do have that grey knights army and a job so i can now add alot of models every two weeks. i really like that idea. it might happen later on.

in response to stitch and the power weapons i have always color coded my weapons in this way.

force: green
power: blue
normal: bronze or silver

however i dont tell my opponent this although im pretty sure they figure it out on their own pretty quickly.

i have now made a way to show that the dual bolt pistols are caring close combat weapons. i have used the rather large knives that came with the tactical squad sprue and removed the hilt and handel and i glued that to the front of the bolt pistols to create a bayonet.
