Blog Entries: 1 | IIRC, if you score more wounds than there are models in the target squad, you can choose one model to take a wound, and if the AS is failed, they must remove that model. Back me up Stitch, I remember you telling us when you used that against an IG army. |

| yep! though after re-reading it, you actually only need to cause as many wounds during a single firing/initiative step as there are enemy models in the unit! (so if there's a unit of 6 space marines and shooting them with say, dire avengers, then if you cause 6 wounds, you get to pick out a single model to make a save...) cheers!

| The Witchhunter ![]() | just thought i would point out (though i am sure you are all aware) that although the attacking player can nominate one enemy model to take a hit, it is the defending player who can choose against what the save is taken, so you couldn't use a meltagun to snipe for instance and thus deny him the save due to the AP. | one of the best ways i've found of exploiting torrent of fire is to deep strike right next to your target... this helps for sniping IC's out of their retinues! drop a unit that can take multiple ap3/ap2 guns, such as an imperial guard platoon command or hardened vets. fire off your basic guns first, then let rip with the plasma death! hopefully your standard guns have killed off one or two enemies meaning if you're lucky, 7-9 plasma shots should be able to cause enough wounds to ensure you can hit the IC! cheers!

| Hairy Hunter ![]() | Just bear this in mind. Once you use this on your opponent they will use it back. Celephus can vouch for this as he used it with his sisters on me against my SW (After a minor hissy fit at such a rule even existing - I was positive he was making it up). I then used this rule against his seraphims leader within the squad. So it works both ways. You need to way up the pro's and con's of unveiling these gem rules in certain games.

| true, but in my book, it's always worth it to pull the little tricks first! ![]() besides, knowing about these little dirty tricks means that you should be planning to ensure once you pull them yourself, you won't put yourself in a situtation where your opponent can hit you back with them! rapid fire baiting is a good way to pull-off the torrent of fire trick... use a single model or else a small, sacrifical unit as bait. if your opponent takes said bait, then you know the magical 12" range for rapid firing! there's veriations on this trick too, but basically it's range estimation & letting your opponent do the dirty work for you! ![]() cheers!

Blog Entries: 1 | An IG vet squad with meltas/plasma guns and a lascannon/autocannon would work well for this mixed with the droptroops doctrine. For torent of blows, a ten man termie squad with ten LCs and teleport! |
