| The Witchhunter ![]() | So the rules for Veil of Tears states that a unit may ignore a harlequin squad for target priority if it is under the effect of Veil of Tears. does this extend to allow me to shoot at non joined Independat Characters which is further away than the Harlequins? i.e. a Harlequin Troupe, protected by Veil of Tears is the closest unit to my CSMs. since i can ignore the Harlies for target priority, i can shoot at a target further away. however, the rules for Independant Characters say that i can't shoot at an IC if it is not the closest unit. does this mean i still cannot target the IC?

| my personal opinion; no. while viel of tears allows you to ignore the normal target priority, the "shooting at IC's" is a different rule and thus the harlies will still count as the closest unit in this regard... still though, it's definately one of those many 'grey areas', so your best bet is to chat about such potential situations with your opponent before the game begins! cheers!

| The Witchhunter ![]() | Cheers Stitch. i intentionally tried not to say which way i thought the ruling went so as not to influence an answer, but i gotta say, i think you are right. i'm sure mart will agree too! on a similar theme, i take it Lash can't target the IC? and is also subject to having to spot the Harlies as well?

Blog Entries: 5 | IMO i'd say you are both correct, you would need to shoot at the harlies (if you can) that is just the way that i see it. Also this fits fluff wise as the would still block line of sight. Veil of tears DOES NOT make them invisible. it just makes the people trying to target them ignore them. they are still there and can be seen, just cant be shot at and as such block line of sight.

| well, the way i look at it; the harlies are still a viable "unit" which is closer. you cannot shoot at an IC unless they are infact the closest actual model to your unit... viel of tears simply ignores the requiremtn for taking a target priority test if you wish to shoot at a more distant unit. a solitary IC is still an IC and thus the IC rules apply - not the target priority rules. method to my madness or just plain barking?!! it's up to you to decide which! ![]() cheers!
