There's nothing out there really other than either late '08 or early '09.

And that's all there is.

it is rumoured to be on the cards in the next 18 months or so, but it would be after Space MArines, Imperial Guard and Dark Eldar, most likely

Not heard any rumours of IG pipping them to the post though.

Dark Eldar Yes, and 'rines yes. but none on IG so far.

Is there any updates on warseer yet?

they should be cheaper this time around, at least for the Grey Hunters - GW wont need to add points on to the cost of a vanilla marine to give them true grit this time around as they should get ubergrit automatically (bolt pistol and boltgun)

mind you, they may get stung in other ways and possibly get limited on the ridiculous amount of power weapons the army can field!

it was for most marines i think - in 2nd ed you use to be able to equip the sgt with one and then the leader of the other combat squad could also take them too iirc (which i probably don't)

so it could be that they have gotten awy with it for too long

i thought that wolves were next in line after DE and definitely before the next marine codex. meh oh well.
i think that cheaper troops is a good idea but also cheaper wolf guard and different squads for veterans and terminators cos terminators now are expensive and are a bugger to write out in the list.....

in 2nd ed you could equip just about any member of the squad with just about any weapon you wanted. you could have a whole squad with power weapons in one hand and power fists on the other. 'course the rules for them were different in those days and the way armour worked was closer to the whfb rules operate, with save modifiers and such for strength and the like.

**nostalgic tear rolls down a hairy cheek**

anyhu, the only thing i'd like to see changed is the statline for bloodclaws. ws and bs 3 just don't cut it when normal sm scouts (and bloodclaws are essentially just young space wolves who are new to the chapter) have the same stats as a normal marine but without the 3+ save. that never really made sense to me other than a way to tone down the extra attack when they charge.

i think the ws3 made a tiny bit of sense since they are young(like less than a century) and wild

well i reckon that 5th Ed. is out in 09 despite these bloody rumours, Before BA dex come out everyone on warseer started talking 5th Ed. then it was just BA so i reckon SW are out this year July-ish as i have been told by a store manager.

I 'd like to see there bloody wargear get simplified, same effect just better wording and less of it. Cheaper troops would be good and the ws3 and bs3 thing going up.

???????

You not learned a thing with Rumours Petey?

Staff members invariably no nothing on rumours or have just read the same threads as us. That and the fact they can't discuss, as if they did leak something... It's their career on the line.

Simplified wargear? Why? It's straight forward, simple to use. Their dex is great as is. Balanced yet powerful. They just some updates with FAQs and some new minis.

GH need to be like 1 - 2 pts cheaper and BC a higher WS. It makes sense to reduce the BS as these guys are raving loonies. But I rarely take them as they can't hit a closed barn door shooting and they struggle to hit it in combat too.

Sorry to have the Hackles up Petey, but the wargear is part of the fluff of Wolves, They are a highly tooled army. Mainly because they see taking weapons at the end of a battle as "trophies" and an acceptable part of war.

I dont mmean dropping it i mean like the BA dex instead of a wargear section give them the choice of different sets of wargear at x points. Yes you then lose the ability to tool stuff up but it stops people taking five or six different pieces of wargear making their guy almost invincible. I have seen the current dex's wargear play with the army and it trashed a khorne army with minimal effort and a Daemon Prince went down without doing a thing.

Basically what i mean is just stop SW from taking Invincygear.

And i have learnt from rumours that most of them are BS the moment any space marine dex (incl BA,SW,DA) everyone is talking about a new rulebook which drives me insane. Warseer is as reliable as a piece of paper in a hurricane for accuracy on rumours as most of them is "wouldnt it be cool if.." situations.

Sorry to go overboard but you should know what im getting at now.

True (always take with a pinch of salt), but if you read the rumours on Warseer, those are the ones you'll hear staffers quoting two weeks later.

I'd suggest those over tooled wolf armies were against poor quality gamers.

Space wolves cost a lot of points as basic, when you over tool you take points from other elements of the army... making a highly un-balanced list. Also the list is already set up like that. Standard troops take from their own wargear (power fist / power weapon) choices and characters from the armoury.

The current dex is probably one of the most balanced out there and it's from back when 3rd ed was relatively new. And that's why it just needs FAQing to bring it in line with other 'rine forces (ie, making the iron priest useful as opposed to a redundant unit, A rune priest with different powers, characters with different levels of skill and points)

But this me only talking from experience in using the wolf dex.

Sorry, but again as I said in the other thread, your staff person is off. I have to side w/ Krom in that staffers don't know nearly as much as they ever let on. Stitch did when she was here, but she had connections BEYOND being a staffer at a GW.

SW are not due out in summer, I think with summer being this close we wold have heard SOMETHING.

plus two codex releases less than 3 months apart is all but unheard of

i think that if they are going to do it, they would have to do Space Wolves right. probably more so than the other chapters due to the fact that it is so much different than the other codex'ed chapters!
