The Order of The Ebon Rose

This is a joint order that ID, Daria and I were trying to get the background sorted for on myspace, then Daria quit myspace and it ground to a halt.

figured it may get sorted if its on here.

the following are just excerpts from the 'founding' of the order, which IIRC was a combination of Bloody Rose and Ebon Chalice. as we get more written, i will Edit this and highlight changes.

"Emiline swallowed hard as she watched the woman whom had been her commander and comrade fall to the broken marble floor below. Surely her soul rested with the emperor now. "Only in death does duty end... " She spoke softly. Slowly she begun to rise from her knees and slowly gravitated toward her enemy blade in hand, her eyes and sword burned with holy hatred and fire... " Sororitas! Fiat justitia ...et ruat caelum ! " she barked... "Sisters! Let justice be done though the heavens fall! " , and alone the Sister superior lead the charge... "


"And as the Daemon Kh'Char broke through the flesh of the Witch Mordant, Saint Emiline stood once more. Her blessed sword in one hand, a rose of bloody hue, the symbol of her order, in the other; she spoke aloud her prayer to our God the Emperor, beseeching of him the strength to strike down in His name the abomination before her.

As the Daemon mocked her faith, an inner light broke from within the Saint, penetrating the darkness and the fog of war. At once the Daemon fell back, shunned by the righteous light of the Emperor, though quickly the beast recovered attacking the Saint with unworldly fire, Only the light of her faith seeming to keep her safe as she approached the beast, preparing to send it back to the hell from wence it came.

Not since the days He walked the Galaxy had such a battle ensued. The beast gave no quarter, though thankfully nor did the saint. Her Celestians, unable to penetrate the fire, watched on in helpless concern as the righteous fought the essence of evil.

However, the grievous wounds sustained by the Saint took their toll and the Daemon gloated as he prepared to slay her with one final stroke. At the last moment her blade rose up, striking the Daemon where his heart should be.

As he fell, a vortex opened drawing in his body and with it the infernal flames of the warp.

The Saint, battered and bleeding, fell to her knees as her Celestians rushed to her side, her very life leeching from her body. The force of the daemon's fire seared her armour to metal, the rose in her hands, nought but blackened embers."

Ok.... Now I must see more of this! VERY intriguing, and SoB fluff is so rarely done!

Sadly (although she wasn’t to know), when faye cancelled her profile, all her input was deleted. This is what remains:

We each created some of the background for our ‘own’ Celestians, however rather than our sisters belonging to sub-sects of the order, we won't be making each Celestian as though their followers recruit and operate independantly to each other, because that goes against the fluff. Instead, certain squads or preceptories can (but do not have to) adopt one, two or all the Celestians as 'Patrons' in a similar way to churches do today.

this way, non of the Celestian's that have been created are exclusive to the creator, nor must you feel compelled to build an army to fit your Celestian's back story.

Celestian: Maria

Location: The moon of Penitence a.k.a. "Rapture".

As the life drained slowly from Emiline's Body, It was sister Maria who tended to her grevious injuries. Weither it was Maria's merciful actions or faith alone, that kept Emiline from passing into the darkness, only the emperor knows. In honor of Maria's devotion that holy day, her sisters wear red armour, to symbolise the holy blood that stained Maria's robes.


After the formation of The Order of the Ebon Rose, Maria would take her sisters to the nearist moon of Penitence from which they would keep continuous watch over Planet and its holy shrine.

Notes to remember.

- Defenders and Protectors. Maria's sisters are Penitence's first line of defense aside from planetary guard, against all whom shun the Emperor's light.

- Garrison forces. They First to be called upon when assistance is needed.

- Passing of the torch. New recruits of the holy order MUST pass through the halls of Rapture's sanctuary before reaching full sisterhood. There they will recieve their final training before being sent off to their first taste of actual combat.

Celestian: Silenne “the voice”

Location: Various, though mostly centred in the Eastern Fringe.

Silenne was originally the Canoness’ Equerry tasked with the job of liasing with all the other factions and departments of the Imperium, and often used as an intermediary between the Adepta Sororitas and the enemy. Upon the founding of Ebon Rose, Silenne stepped out from the diplomatic arena on to the battle field, and was the first to leave Penitence to proclaim the works of Emiline. It is her Sisters that have travelled the furthest, and expanded the most.

Notes to remember.

- Orators and Defenders of the Faith. Often thought as outspoken and petulant in their devotion, Silenne’s sisters are often quick to proclaim the word of Emiline’s work in His name. They are often at the forefront of a war of faith shouting Litanies at their unbelieving enemies. Consequently they are natural Orators, versed in arguments and counter arguments of the Imperial. Furthermore, more than one conflict has been resolved without bloodshed thanks to this faction of the order.

Celestian: Tabathe “the passion”

Location: Segmentum Obscurus.

Tabathe was the youngest of the celestian’s and also the most idealistic. A consummate warrior, Tabathe lacked the tact and wisdom of her fellow sister celestians. As the other sisters tended to Emiline’s wounds or stood guard, Tabathe led the final attack on the now broken Heretic followers of Mordant. Feeling that her calling was to face the enemies at the most vulnerable area of His realm, Tabathe travelled to the area surrounding the Eye of Terror

Notes to remember.

- Zealous and Inspirational. They are fiery warriors who are quick to take up arms in His name, their faith in Him has often inspired lesser servants of the Imperium to follow their example.

- Attrition. Due to their fiery nature, and the distance they have travelled to spread the word, Tabathe’s sisters are often the victims of wars of attrition. Consequently, cut off as they are from Penitence, having suffered many unreplaced losses, this part of the order is not very numerous.

you see, i don't understand why you never type in word and then copy and paste. that way, when things like that happen, its there ready and waiting.

right then, Penitence: think it was a mining world, fairly desolate in an ash waste type of way.

Mordant was a 'missed' Psyker that led what seemed like a regular uprising

cannot remember too much else. anyone?

Heres everything I remember:

-Penitence was a small mining world

- It had a oblong orbit around it's sun resulting in scorching summers and freezing winters.

- Most of the population lived under ground in vast catacombs and underground cities.

- along with Mordant the psyker there were also signs that a small force of K sons were within the area.

- at some point the system was seperated from the rest of the surrounding systems by a vast warp storm or something like that. I cant remember exactly what we agreed on.

thats right, and mordant was actually unaware of his part in the kson's scheme. i think we need to revise the kson bit, perhaps at most they should be a group of kson exiles rather than actually still under magnus' control.

though preferably ditch the ksons altogether and use regular tzeentchi sorcerers.

sounds good, we didnt really agree on K sons in the first place anyway. It was just kinda the idea were last tinkering with.

I beleive that the Grey Knights books have some SoBs in them, but i haven't read them yet so cant be sure, then there is Daemonifuge which was originally in Warhammer Monthly but has since been given its own book

if you are happy with them, use them, otherwise just write your own. my suggestion if you are still allergic to MS Word would be to write a paragraph at a time into a post, and as you get further, or want to revise your entry, edit your post
