Default All Imperial Guard Players Read

If its one thing that bothers me when I see other guard plays is this: Basilisks assembled wrong. Now this maybe harsh but the earthshaker cannon DOES NOT, MACHT NICHT, не делает, HACE NO, etc, goes on the top of the tank. There is a little nitch/slit that the cannon simply slides into. OMG its looks sooo much like the box! and it looks good.

what do u mean, like they would line up the platform that the crew stand on with the top of the tank hull? that leaves a huge gap in the back! i did this with an old griffon morter tank (anyone remember those) but now since thats gone i lowered the guns angle and it is now a vindicator for my SM

Yea thats what they do.... they line it up with the treads on the tank, and its really annoying... oh well. But hey I remember those great griffons, still play with one myself.

You'd think people would read the assembly instructions on the box... or did they not have those until recently? They even come with assembly manuals now!

Nice German and Russian, Steellegioncpt!

Yeah, you'd think they would look at the instructions on the side of the box... or did they not have those until recently? They even have manual inside now!

I like the German and Russian, Pete!

dunno 'bout the russian, but neither the german nor the spanish is really used in the right context there >_>. The spanish is kinda iffy, but that is reeeally bad german...

"machen" is only "to do" in the sense of an action. It's the infinitive form.I'm guessing you used an internet translater for that?

Ah but the verb is machen, it is then converted into the Er/Es/Sie form. i.e. He/It/She do not, so in theory, Er macht nicht oder Sie macht nicht. In this case, I am refering to an item. That item being the Earthshaker cannon. Whether or not Earthershaker is feminie, masculine, or neuter is up to you. It should more or less be Es macht nicht, or maybe Ist macht nicht. I more or less forgot the subject, and went directly to does not, or "to do nothing" nicht being nothing, and machen being the verb to do.

Further more we would like to create a friendly enviroment here at 40kterra, and not be so harshly judgemental and critical on other's replies. Though I am not moderator for this specific forum, actions maybe needed.

Since the earthshaker is a cannon, it would take the feminine form "die" because the root word (kanone) is feminine (die kanone). However, gender, as you seem to have indicated, is totally irrelevant in this case, because the conjugation of the verb is the same for each.

In English, the verb "to do" performs more than one function. In German, the verb "machen" performs the function of indicating an action, NOT indicating whether an entity belongs in a specified orientation in space-time or not. To say that an entity does not belong there, one might simply say "es soll nicht da sein".

I don't think that what I said was overly abrasive, I was merely correcting a problem. I think you are being rude .

Yea well we need Baseys. Because though a HUGE cannon is death to you, only a bolter can kill us. And just think how many bolter you have :P

Took my Iron Warriors Bassilisk out for a spin today for a Tau killing session-my opponent was very obliging in arranging his troops in nice big blast shape groups (managed to get 8 troops in one shot) and then not moving them after Id guessed the range!

silly space fish!

but why were you guessing range?! that's gone now... you just declair target, place template and scatter... (there was too much cheating when we had to guess!)

cheers!

Indirect fire-guess range weapon min range 36", least thats what my friend (neutral party by the way) from his guard codex!
Not that it matters even guessing the range plenty of damage was done!

you still don't guess anymore! you just can't target anything that's less than 36" from the gun as you have a minimum range...
so you simply declair target, check to see if it's over your minimum range and still within your max range and then place your template and scatter!

guessing was horrid as you had gits who would use their arms and such to pre-measure range without you knowing!

cheers!

I think the bassilisk is the best tank in the game! I can't say enough about them, and nobody's going to convince me not to use them...

Exactly, that's why they're actually worth taking... If whirlwinds came in squads, then they'd be worth taking. You can't beat such a cheap indirect fire weapon, but you pretty much need 3 of them to be effective across the board. And there are a lot more attractive options than 3 WWs. But back on point. Bassies are great and a must for IG players.
