Default The Monastery is coming.

Im building a monastery to hold my sisters. This is only piece 1 of a three part design. Enjoy. If you have any ideas let me know.

Also the weird stick figures are there to represent statues. LoL. Just so you know. I think the diagram is fairly clear. Any questions or comments are appreciated.

Well, the other two pieces are more battle ready fortresses or barrack type buildings. They are several stories high. Etc.

I like the idea of creating a dome, just got to figure out how to do it. Hmmm.

perhaps you could go for a contrast? In the centre you have the reverant monastery, sombre graveyard and grounds for contemplation, and around those, firm, battlescarred fortifications, and beyond those more fortifications in the form of trenches, tank traps, razor wire, etc.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Like the monastery would be the center and then the outside areas would be more battle ready fortresses. We have big gaming tables, so Im creating as I go.

heh not all 40k terrain has to be battlescarred ruins

but for the dome perhaps you could look for a small circular bowl or a half sphere of styrophome...stomethin like that.

Yeah I think something like that will work. It has to be light though.

And Im not planning on making it battlescarred. Maybe a little on the buildings to look like there has been battles there, but not really hardcore death and destruction. More like a sacred place where you can battle.

Hmmm, I thought of the monastery and grounds as untouched and pure, a stark contrast to the defenses... hell you could have their world infested with orks, which they allow to live because it keeps them sharp.

Kind of what I was thinking. I thought that as long as the sanctuary is pure and beautiful the rest can look like whatever.

Good job! I'm still a bit off keel from the camping, so i'll post some suggestions and such later, but it looks good from a quick scan!

hmmm... =I= figures as statues...the daemon huntress model seems the most applicable. Though Tyrus would nearly make for a primarch stature...

The assassins are good for ruined assassin temples.
Any of the guardsmen, inquisitors, the navigator or Brother Artemis can be used as "generic hero".
The Deamonhuntress makes the best saint.
Chaos Magus, Deamonhost and Unbound Deamonhost make for good chaos statues.
Alien statues? No problem, you never know where your next battle might take you - the Genestealer is the only one truly unsuited to this though because of the way they operate.
