| Trooper ![]() | So I advanced ordered the new Warhammer 40k Basing Kit and it came in the mail today. After looking through the kit, I thought that the pictures and description on the Games-Workshop online store did not say enough about the kit...so I'm making an overview for you all. First off- the pics I took can be seen here, I would have put them right into my post, but I don't know how to do that >.< An Ezekiel model is shown in the pictures so that you can get an idea about how big the items are. http://s242.photobucket.com/albums/ff107/Radeon28/ The kit comes with the following items: 1 tub of gravel 1 tub of slate 4 40mm detailed bases 4 25mm detailed bases A bunch of bits that can be added onto your bases Though the slate and gravel seems to be really top quality and exactly what I was looking for, I found the amount that came with the kit to be a little on the low side, but this does open the opportunity for me to buy another kit ![]() The detailed bases are AWESOME. These are great for leaders, heroes, or any other model you really want to stick out. I didn't expect to get all the basing bits with this kit...not that I'm complaining. You get 36 of them in total, and I plan to put one of these little buggers on everyone of my bases to give them a little extra something. The brass bits were pretty cool, the detail is above par and good for making metal rubble on your bases. I personally am not a big fan of the brass stuff, will most likely trade it for something like more slate/gravel. Overall, I recommend the kit. Its got some cool stuff in it and will really make your bases stand out. Odds are I will buy a second one. Hope this overview helped someone, Radeon28 |

I pickup stuff EVERYWHERE to do basing and scenery with! Why fuel the high priced GW fire if you dont have to? But if you like burning up your money, ignore me. Im old and have learned the hard way. |

Blog Entries: 5 | I think he was just doing the 'Old Timer bemoaning the youngins' bit Radeon. Good review. Maybe Gregor would be so kind as to do a basing guide for us, like his other one?

This just makes life easier, and gives my bases more variety. I'm running out of base ideas, so recently all of my bases look the same; ground up sprue and sand.![]()

But on a different note, I second Erus' idea for a basing tutorial; especially one that is for gravel/slate. I haven't based a model for over a year, but now that I have this kit, I'm really anxious to start up again.
