Blog Entries: 1 | well what can I do now? I bought the 360 at launch date and all those sweet memories are now over. I wonder if my warenty hasn't expired yet. And my siblings (especially my sister) are pretty much PO after this. Any way on extracting data?

Blog Entries: 4 | Ah you got RRoD'ed too? I don't know the experience personally (i.e. mine hasn't died, but I've seen the RRoD in person yes). As far as I know, the microsoft warranty is 1 year. Then they discovered that any pre-March-2007 manufacturing ones had Mobo/overheat problems and were prone to RRoD almost 99%. So it possibly raised to 2 years after that. (or was it from 2 to 3 instead of 1 to 2?) It's what I remember my friend telling me anyhow, so forgive me if I'm wrong. Best idea for Warranty info: Phone Microsoft toll free line as directed on box of 360 or in its user manual. Data-extraction is easy: plug the hard drive into another 360, which you can hook to your PC. (VIA USB or some other uplink) Not sure where to go from there though. If the hard drive is dead, then I don't have a clue.

Blog Entries: 1 | I doubt the material on which it's based makes a difference (Unless the fibres have some sort of super electrostatic effect I've not heard of yet...or something else, lol, I don't know) I don't have a 360, so that's all I have to say, and thus I declare this my most pointless post ever.

Blog Entries: 4 | It won't help. But here's a few notes for people who haven't RRoD'ed yet: Don't keep the console unit its self on carpet. NEVER flip it with a disc inside. Preferably use it standing up. (vertical) If the previous suggestion causes it to scratch discs, obviously flip it back down, AFTER taking the disc out.

Anyways... generally, warranty is 1 year... so unless you bought longer warranty or it was extended.... if not... I'm not sure what you can do...

I, as a matter of fact, do know most of the solutions stated here for a red light. Most of them posted, I could have suggested. It was merely the fact that Kenshin failing to post anything resembling (to me, due to acronyms/colloquialisms he used) approaching a coherent question that I was unable to help. Don't assume that because someone doesn't know a slang term that they know nothing of the problem itself.

| I think erus would be willing to leave you off this one time. Just keep the policy on slang terms in mind in future. Onto the problem at hand... My friends 360 showed those red rings every time a wire was even slightly loose. I mean if the connection even wobbled slightly in the port it wouldn't work right. Try re-inserting all the wires in the back of the console. It's a long shot but it might work.

Blog Entries: 9 | Actually the red ring of death can be caused by the power block thingy overheating as this was the case with Slow's 360 all he did is moved it to a wooden surface while it was turned off and then turned it on and it worked. The red ring of death indicates a hardware fault and the power block thingy being hardware means it could just be this simple. If not your buggered. |

Blog Entries: 4 | I had a problem with my 360-it would freeze and the only way to correct it was to disconnect the power supply, this got worse and worse so I sent it back and they were very good about collection, letting you know they had got it and sent it back etc. Then a few months later I started to get the red ring scenario, I actually found it was one of the cables (it was slightly damaged inside from being bent round the back of the cabinet), it turns out that the 360's diagnostic program checks the cables and there connections and shows a red ring error if anythings amiss! If it is an overheating thing with yours I would contact Microsoft even if it is out of waranty as they have admitted there is known problem with the item and under consumer law, knowingly selling a faulty item and failing to correct the fault (even outside of a defined warrantly period) is illegal-an electronic item should continue to operate as described even after a warranty has expired an not fail soon after! Give them a try-be nice and polite and you never know what youll get (when I sent mine back they kept my custom faceplate and when I politely enquired they sent it back along 2 extra (different) ones as an apology!) |

Blog Entries: 4 | When you send them back you also get a 30-day Live card =P and another one of my friend's 360 died yesterday... RRoD as well, and yet again from the CPU overheat scenario. (The one they fixed in newer systems with silicon glue...)
