Default Call of Duty 4 review

I went out and bought CoD4 and I have to say that the graphics are amazing on it.

Visual: This is the games strongest point, character faces are perfect, and movements are smooth. you can deflate individual tires on cars and instead of shattering windows you put holes through them.

Play: the most prominent feature of the game is the ability to shoot through walls if your gun is powerful enough. This means that those pesky AI scripted bots can't hide from you! However it seems that even though you can shoot through concrete walls with certain guns, an oil barrel is out of the question.

Singe Player: Single player is great, each mission is new an intense, at one point you even get to man the guns on a C-130 Spectre. The storyline is well thought through and the difficulty levels are stunning. However the campaign is short. Very Short. You've got less then 4-5 hours playing time to look forward to.

Multiplayer: This is the part of the game that I hated. The dynamic unlock feature at cool at first, until you realize that your no match for anyone else with their sniper machine guns. The bullet penetration is the biggest let down. In singleplayer it's fine for this feature. However in multiplayer every level devolves into people sitting in their spawn behind walls and shooting their M-60's with upgraded rounds through the walls into the enemy spawns. It's not fun.

Overall I give it a 3/5. the Visuals and storyline only take you so far, once that over the game is dead.

I have to agree with you on most points. I'd rather play CoD4 all day than Halo 3 all day. I for one love the shoot through walls feature, but I hate the perk that drops a grenade when you die! For 1v1 or 2v2 matches, I think that there are enough weapons and big enough maps for hours of fun before it degenerates into shooting through walls with The Pig.(or SAW, but hey, it's a lot of fun). But really, I can only see that happening in Xbox live multiplayer games.

I think the battlefield series has colored my views a bit too, since there isn't much that can beat them in the multi player arena. I found the CoD4 maps too small, constricting and full of clutter.

I see what you mean. Maybe the clutter was a necessity because you can shoot through walls. Imagine a Medal of Honor style map in CoD4! Cover would be virtually useless and turn the maps into giant slaughter houses!

I like the game, and i will give it a 4/5 as opposed to three.

Only played one Battlefield game, generally i stick to Sci-Fi shooters - Gears of War, Halo 3 etc. Or just purely awesome games like Assasins Creed and NFSPS.

But when i do go for a war game (i.e. Ghost Recon or CoD) i dont expect it to amount to much.

CoD4 showed me just how wrong a guy can be
