PS3 or Xbox 360?

Alright here's my problem I got a job over the summer holidays and I'm saving up for a custom made surfboard and a console but the thing is I don't know which on to get. So I'm asking for your opinion tell help me out here.

The 360 is alot better than the ps3.But thats my opinion.

Easy - 360.

Cheaper, just as effective. The key thing is - XBOX Live and Achievement points. Most people have 360's too.

Pure internal hardware wise the PS3 wins hands down, but the fact that Sony have decided to only make the 40GB version from now on is a plus for Xbox sales.
Sure you might save £50 (roughly $100) but you get 20GB less memory, only 2 USB ports for anything you might wish to connect to your PS3, no backwards compatibility. The online play isn't quite as well established as Microsoft's Xbox Live but its getting there, in the end it'd be best to look at the games which are exclusive to each system and decide that way. i.e

Xbox:
Halo
Gears of War

PS3:
Resistance: Fall of man
Heaven's Sword
etc

The PS3 has the best internal hardware. However, the PS3 is more expensive, and has a lot less exclusive games. PS3 was going to be worth the extra bucks until most of the exclusives went to the 360. Such as Assassins Creed and Devil May Cry 4. Anywho, there's the scoop pretty much, and I have a 360.

360 all the way. Just look at the games out/coming for the 360, and then look at the PS3. The Xbox 360 has such titles as Halo3(and 1 and 2 for that matter) Gears of War, Call of Duty 4(and 2), Assassins Creed, Ghost Recon:Advanced War fighter2, and many more. As for the PS3...MGS4.

If there was a way to combine the 360's features with the Ps3s graphics and lack of crashing, i'd go for the Ps360. But unfortunately, there isn't. So it's 360 hands down.

simple answer go on youtube and type in "ps3 song" and you will be able to watch the video in with everyone takes the complete mick out of the ps3, ps3 needs bluray(yawn) 360 dosent(yay) ps3 dosent have a big selection of ps3 games(yawn) xbox has come gr8 games (woot) ps3 canj be unscrewed at the back to make a barbacue(yay)

juding by ther amount of yays the 360 got 360, but the ps3 grill is good, makes good sausage

well i dont know what everyone is talking about ALL these exclusive games because the PS3 has Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon, and Call of Duty 4 as well.
Plus the PS3 can play blu-rays straight out of the box but the Xbox needs to get a special HDD drive to run the HD films (so thats another £60-£70 or $100-$140).
Wow, looks like the Xbox is catching up in price to a fully tricked out PS3 when you add on the gubbinz to make Microsoft's wonder toy able to do everything Sony's little beasty can already do....



DISCLAIMER: I personally prefer the Xbox because I love Halo and Xboxes in general but I thought I'd best weigh in with a counter argument for the PS3. If your wondering where im getting my info its because I worked in the games department of HMV from October onwards (since all we sell is Music, DVDs, and Games its a fairly hefty department).

this is the best thing about the ps3
i personally think the ps3 is better
the hardware is better
the online is FREE
the games look better hooked up to my flat screen
the 360 has halo3 that is its only positive
the bluray is its strongest assest
remember blockbuster killed the betamax when it chose VHS
and i thinks its gonna hurt HDDVD because it chose bluray
by the way a bluray player on its own is $300+
you get that built in plus the best console ever put on the market

Umm... PS3 has EA-Sports backing it, but if you're not into that then 360.
Resistance fall of man plays too much like a Gears of War ripoff, just with much more enemy-killing-you-even-on-lowest-difficulty (i.e. it's hard to have "enjoyment" or "joy-ride" rounds on the game)

Also, PS3 has better hardware, but many games for some odd reason optimize better for 360 than PS3 and the quality ends up being a tiny bit worse in certain conditions on the PS3.

The Blue Ray built-in is definitely a HUGE bonus on the PS3, especially since it has been chosen as the new "standard" (by Warner Bros) for HD-discs.

Generally I prefer the 360, because its style, its controllers style, its selection of games and many of other minute details just SUIT ME.

So the idea is to find things that SUIT YOU.
Both 360 and PS3 users can probably mount up billions of arguements against eachother (I have friends on both armies) and really in the end it boils down to "PS3 has better specs and you're a bill gates tool" to "360 has better games, more players and is cheaper" but they end up PROVING BOTH ARGUEMENTS WRONG anyway.

So find your console. Look through the good games of each, go to EBGames and test out the controllers, etc etc.

And if you're looking for best console on the market get a Wii.

But thats just 'cos i own one, and i love the layout and gamer point system.

And it has actual Windows Media Player Built in! Actual registered Microsoft Windoes Media Player!

.....which honmestly means nothing at all unless you get orgasms over MW labels, as PS3's have a muisic player built in.

Still, 360 gets my vote for sheer cheapness and quality of games.

I disagree with that last statement... the most important thing about a console is: graphics, cost, games

Wii has the worst graphics and the smallest selection of games, plus a lot of the games are kiddy ones... it may be cheaper, but, it has the worst games and the worst graphics...

Now, if I was buying a console, I would get the 360 because it has better FPS games (Halo 3) and it would spite my best friend (who loves the PS3)... to me the best mutliplayer games will always be FPS games, and the only reason I'd really want a console is for mutligaming... as I can play single player games on my laptop... and now... that I have a laptop, as long as we all have wireless (I have a wireless router) me and my friends can have LAN parties... assuming they have the same games and wireless...

If they don't... its 20tk (about 30 US cents) an hour at the game cafe for gaming... that's a VERY nice price...

Those are some really good replies that have got me thinking but what I want to know is how much does it cost to play online on 360 and how much on ps3? Do you have to buy internet connections or what?

Well generally I consider Wii to be the best due to its amount of "party"-ness.

Because, as we all know, it's often fun to video game with the non-VG generations, but not on hardcore halo.

Wii is more of a "general" party thing not like "hardcore 16v16 deathmatch/pro-ctf"

Thats not a bad point... but all my friends love video games... we're all pretty good at 'em too...

I guess it depends, once again, what your intentions are... if all your friends are hardcore gamers... or at least at your level of gaming, then PS3/360 all the way... but if you're more of a causal gamer, who doesn't really try to get any better... get a Wii...

I still think that I'd get a 360...

This is why I hate people who don't like the 360, they only think Halo is the holy grail of the xbox when there are other games to playMass Effect, Blue Dragon, Oblivion, Gears of War, ect. (no offense Warmaster)
