Default Warhammer online delayed....

Here is a news article I have just read, saying that EA games has taken over the project, so the game wont be released until around the start of 2008.

Sad... But, however, it will probably turn out the better for it.

Expect it to be 'Postponed for the creation of other games'
By that they mean they want to spend all their time concentrating on crappy games and leave that one until everyone forgets about it.
It's happened twice to me now!

Yes but there's the one singular problem. WoW sucks. End of.

w00t! Someone agrees! Now i bet someone will come up with 101 reasons why WoW beats the ass off any other MMORPG, and then i'll just say "Look, WoW sucks. If you've ever played Warcraft, you are a traitor to human kind, because Warcraft pwns WoW. WoW is haven for paedophiles, and she-men."

E.g: Dungeon Keeper 3! They took over, "Postponed it" and it was never heard of again :'(

Whoa... you totally freaked me when I read that EA was taking over the project. Actually, they aren't.

EA bought Mythic yes, but Mythic is still making the game. Mythic's previous game was Dark Age of Camelot, which I played for like 3 years. The game stood out from the pack as it probably had the best PvP architecture for an MMO yet! I don't think that WoW sucks as an MMO. In fact it's a very good one. Although, it lacks good PvP. That makes it get boring rather quick. Also, because of it's popularity, the WoW populace sucks. Lots of jerks and WAY too kids play it.

I don't play MMO's anymore because I don't have the time. Warhammer:AOR is actually kind of appealing to me though as they're making a bit more like Guild Wars and less of painful level grinding PvE. Guess we'll see though.

Rofl, don't brag =] But i agree actually, WoW isn't exactly THE suckage, but kids and people on it.. plus the PPM system just plain sucks. If it happens with the Warhammer MMO, i'm gonna download a client for it and play on private servers =]

WoW really is just crack. Crack laced with bunch of othe stuff (i.e. extremely low grade crack). It`s not that great, but very very addictive.

But it's exactly what people want, so massive multiples of people massively multiplay it. Also, Blizzard tends to make games that attract massive amounts of people, and porportionally (or sometimes, disporportionally) massive amounts of jerks and aces whose every word or action manage to infuriate me (not only in WoW but starcraft and all their other hits as well). That alone has put me off Blizzard games pretty much for good.

And I pretty much completely agree with Jericho199's. Though I still have to say, Guild Wars was still kind of a grind, because the missions didnt usually take you to the right levels and you had to go out and mass kill things. EVE-Online I think had it well with the complete non grind XP & skills (learn from skill books, which train by timer), but you had to wait WAYYY too long for training to complete, especially if it was a high level skill.

Rant Aside, WO:AOR looks great, I want to play it, but they should get more player classes for each side, and more races (I`m holding out for Dark Elf Assassins, Witch Elves, Nobles and Cold One Mount. No Dark Elf Assassins are not like Night Elf Rogues, cause Dark Elves dont suck).

P.S. If Mythic is reading this: IT`S RUNESMITH NOT RUNE PRIEST!!!!

Oh and anyone going to baltimore games day that is willing to give me a WO:AOR beta promo code (or a friend who wants to)

I played WoW for a year or so...and must admit I have alot of different experiences on it...It's all in what you make of it and the people you decide to play with...yeah sure there are a lot of assanine jerks there...on both sides of the fence....but I have also made some pretty good friends through it and met the one woman who doesn't mind me playing games at all...hell she's a PS2 fanatic and is bugging me to buy her a 360...so I say it's all about how you let it affect you, and the ones you choose to game with...I'd still be playing if I had the damn time to but am off to work here shortly and it just ruins my whole day...

You see, WoW has spawned a new race of complete and utter fanatics who will do anything just to get another piece of gold. Just like Runescape. Now my question is, why? If it ain't answered, i WILL rant.

I fell out of love with MMO when I was playing Ultima online- to really get anywhere you need a house-now these have to built on plots of land that are flat and have no terrain in them. Can you find a single piece of land big enough to do this...NO because all the available plots have been bought up and are now for sale on eBay for real money (that I object to). All the resources are strip mined by professional syndicates and sold on ebay again for real money and I had my character "professionaly killed" several times for daring to enter a syndicates area-which had all the good resources in it without their permission...Its a game for goodness sake!

Now the same thing is taking place with WOW and so many other MMO games-just look on ebay at the number of people selling gold/resources/high level characters (specialy selling Jedi characters for Star Wars Galaxies)-the fun has been stripped from the game by people profiteering from it, ewhy should I waste my time working through the game earing levels, skill and items when some kid can go on ebay and convince daddy to buy him everything he wants!

As for the attitude of some of the people online-nuff said

Rant over.

I met my girlfriend of 4 years now playing DAOC. Funny I'm finding more and more couples that meet that way.

And agreed. Making the best of WoW (or any other MMO) means finding the people you WANT to play with.

well, Killer and Peturabo, you're referencing gold farming i guess.
it is because of the variable kinds of people who play the games. People with short time or attention span buy gold. people with no other expertise farm and sell gold, especially in poverty stricken areas. and of course as is with basically unrestricted world markets, where there is buyer and seller, there is dealing. oh and gold buying is convenient, and cheaper as more gold is farmed (so more people buy) and if more people buy more need to be farmed. so it's like a dangerous cycle into the abyss.

Sure there are legit people with legit reasons buying much needed items online (they are rock bottom due to hacking, or just plain don have any time like 1hr / month or something) but the majority, as i'm willing to bet, are just plain lazy. and probably very unssucessful in RL, because they have a lot of free time, i.e. no jobs, and cant keep them because if you wont work for a GAME then i doubt you'd work for RL jobs.

And this is NOT a good thing! If people are meeting through games, it could mean all sorts that go wrong. I could count the number of men pretending to be women. And vice versa. It's just WRONG to meet people this way. Not specifically you Jericho, but most of these people 'fall in love' and then never meet? Or when they do, one turns out to be ugly as hell and then the other instantly dislikes him? Come on, this is not a good idea.

It's not a good thing? Why not exactly? We met doing something we both enjoy. How is it any different than meeting at a gaming shop, or a restaraunt, or a shooting range? Things couldn't go wrong in those situations?

To you perhaps. But without citing evidence, it's your biased opinion and not a fact. You saying it's "just WRONG" is like me saying the way you dress is "just WRONG".

That sounds more like an issue of said people being desperate and shallow if they're going to fall in love then change their mind based on the person's appearance. It's not like her and I logged on to a game to look for love, we just happened to stumble into it while doing something we both enjoy. As for people having nightmarish experiences or getting their heart broken over someone they've never met.... really people have more control over their lives that they like to believe. PEOPLE make decisions. Sometimes, those decisions are stupid and end up causing them grief.
