| Introductory Speach : I'm liking this forum alot, I'm a moderator at a smaller one and I can't get a humor thread, also this is a sweet looking format. If you couldn't guess the meaning of my pseudonym it derives from Imperial Guardsman ofcourse and "Oh, look at that poor regular Joe who has to fight the untold horrors of the galaxy." Basic Info 13+ year vet of GW games and I made the mistake of engaging in employment there for one year. I hope my experiences can help others. Name: Oddly enough my name is Paul...not Joe, but who cares it's the internet. Armies owned/paint status: Hmm....6,000 points Targes Light Infantry 60% painted - 1,500 points Vostroyans Bryansk Division 100% painted - 1,000 points - Targes Ork Hunters 100% painted - 2,000 points Steel Legion 20% painted - 1,500 points Witch Hunters 20% painted - 3,000 points Salamander Space Marines 40% painted. Got all the other stuff too, including Necromunda but I'll stick to 40k since that is this forums focus. Location: Currently around Tokyo Contact Info: PM me if you need anything Any other information: I've got a degree in Linguistic Ambiguity and I try to apply too much logic to rules in 40k. So if I rail on the game system a little just ignore me, cause in the end I love my guard.

| well, having also worked for gw for almost a year, it's not the friendliest place as far as managment, (rather 'mis'managment!) is concerned... your opinion matters not - even if you know your idea is much better and more sound from a buisness perspective... your boss is your god and he is not to be questioned for any reason! (even if you think it's compleatly daft to only take core sets and starter paint sets as your event store for a conflict!!! )anyways, i'm the infamous stitch! no doubt a few others will soon be along to warn you about how nutty and dangerous i am - they're simply jealous of the blissfull state of pure chaos that i enjoy! ![]() cheers! stitch - 40kterra's token female gamer and all 'round nutter

| -ATTENTION: Do not, under any circumstances, feed stitch. Horrendous things occur, and the Gods of the Warp eat a baby kittens soul. *ahem* GOOD GOD MAN! That is a lot of infantry and troops! Good to see another person who treats 40K logically. Some things just dooon't make sense, eh? Eager to see those Ork Hunters, as well as the different guard armies. The themes sounds awesome. Guard armies are always interesting, because the little buggers always find ways to hold on and annoy me for turns on end. |

Blog Entries: 3 | Hey Joeeee hows the 40k Scene in Tokyo? From what I heard they are more WHFB dominant than 40k. If you can get pics of sort that will be nice show =D Though not madatory of course.. Welcome to the boards, we hope that you may find that 40k Terra as how you, as a gamer, want it to be. If not... drop the emperor (me) a line. IKARUS

| Thank you for the warm welcome. I barely expected anyone to reply, definetly not with this many questions. Stitch had some of the problems with being a redshirt right, my problems were different because my manager was a really cool guy and I became really good friends with him and everyone I worked with. This was last year however and so very much in the dark age of GW that we live it and my being friends with my manager who was also a cell manager gave me alot of inside information on the runnings of stores and managers relation to the Hive Mind of the company. Basically it sucks to be a Redshirt because none of the parts of GW talk to one another, Marketing doesnt talk to Games Development who doesn't talk to White Dwarf who doesn't talk to Event Management who doesnt talk to the Golden Deamon organizers. All of this boils down to me pretty much by myself painting a 1,500 point Ork army for the crumby Dark Crusade campaign while painting Harkoni Warhawks for the Games Day event all of this during Festivus (a week long event where the store was packed) and the White Dwarf advertised a completley different event which I also had to run....man that sucked. Ok, so on a lighter 13 years ago was the golden age of warhammer. It was beginning to get wide spread in the states but it wasn't at all overpriced and so thats why I have a good amount of metal infantry from all the guard armies. Also they practically pay you in mini's at GW so thats where I got my Vostroyans, Ork hunters, Ogre Kingdoms and my Gothic Fleet aswell as my ability to paint at a high quality at a high speed. I'll try to put up some photos when I get back to the states, but I'll put up some pictures of my exploits in Japan. Japan was mainly Fantasy but right now the buzz is 40k, not all of the books are published for 40k though and I'm doing an Ork army here that uses basic rules. Sorry for the long piece here but there were alot of Q's.

Blog Entries: 4 | Its a shame to see so many people who work for GW being so disheartened by the whole affair, for so many gamers out there it seems like the dream job. Yet so often you here tales of poor pay/employee welfare high pressure sales tactics and a faceless company that doesnt care what it takes to get the money. Its nice to see that the past hasnt put you off wargaming. As everyone else has said-man thats one truck load of armies youve got going! Welcome to the forums

| well, i worked at the hq myself. our manager was an idiot too! (yes, let's take *only* core game sets, starter paint sets, 12 or so regiment boxes and then the bitz & leftover forgeworld stuff to a large conflict event... that'll keep the customers happy?!!) still, i had alot of good times and now some friends i nthe uk headoffice too ![]() but yes, i feel for the redshirts as they get abused by all and are not allowed to sleep in the two months prior to a games day. (which is then worked by the store and area managers while the poor redshirts get to sit around and twiddle their thumbs in an empty store!) cheers!
