I've had too many battle blunders to post. Seriously, forgetting to move, forgetting to shoot, amongst others.

One of my most stupid moments was when I charged a squad of scouts with 6 Tau, (the scouts were already in combat with about another 6). They all died. And the 6 tau were holding an objective until they charged. I would have one, but about 5 scouts killed about 12 Tau, even after being shot at. Oh the shame. (I was playing someone who power games alot though, so I don't count many games against him as proper battles)

my biggest blunder:

in 2nd edition, tyranids had a lot of special rules. certain weapons affected them differently.

one such rule read something like this: Tyranids are immune to the following weapons: needle sniper rifles/pistols
i read this to be immune to needle sniper rifles, and pistols. for about two years my tyranids were immune to all pistols!

I was 8

Unhappy

Funny you should mention bonehead maneuvers and mistakes.
Last night I lost all three of my Exorcists in an RTT when I forgot to move them allowing assaults by remnant eldar squads (none of whom counted as scoring units) to wipeout three of mine. If you move yu can still shoot, but they get half as many hits. Duhhh!!!! What can I say, I had been up for 24 hours and had worked the previous night on graveyard shifts.

For some reason I thought my Assault-cannon dreadnought could out-shoot a Railgun-toting hammerhead.

I blame nerd fumes.

in 1 memorable chaos vs blood angle game i fired a plasma pistol at a land raider thinking i need a 6 to penetrate. in a remarkable turn of good luck i got the 6! then i grab a dice for armour pen (different dice so as not to jinx it!). holy crap another 6!! i just blew up a landraider in 1 shot!!! 2 weeks later the penny drops as me and the other guy were having a beer and talking about the game.

a unit of 8 berzerkers charge a remnant unit if guardsmen in cover.the guardsmen strike first with 7 attacks. 6 berzerkers die. berzerkers strike back - 1 guardsman dies! haha

would khorne have been pleased by the guardmens bloodshed or sadened by the berzerkers' lack thereof? i guess well never know

at the 2003 toronto grand tournament, the 1st game's mission used the sustained assault rules for all your army's Troops choices.

for some unknown reason, 2 world eaters players were pitted against eachother...
it took about half an hour to calculate just how many victory pts each player earn within 6 turns of unimaginable bloodshed!!! (roughly 5000 or so victory pts all told - it came to be know as the 'ultiment khornage!')

cheers!

This one doesn't belong to me, but a pal of mine at a our LGS had some sort of mental lapse and tried to run over a Havoc squad composed of 4 meltaguns with his Predator.

Strangely, the tank was only immobilized and lost it's turret gun.

Man, I would have liked to have seen that. Perhaps it would have whipped my Tau into shape!

basically the game went;

player A assaults and wipes out 3 of player B's units. Player A's units all make a sweeping advance into nearby enemy units...
(player B's turn!) 3 new units come back onto the table. daemon's are summoned and Player B's entire army assaults Player A's entire army - lots of death and destruction both ways! most of Player B's army makes a sweeping advance...
(player A's turn again) most of Player A's army is recycled back onto the table and assaults most of Player B's army...

continues like this for 6 turns of blood-filled madness!!!

cheers!

Actually, blood from sickness indicates some very super Nurgley goodness in the immediate vicinity.

But we don't get no love there!

Seriously though, whoever designs Nurgle models is a sick man.

haha. quite.
my favorite 40k mistake: realizing that getting 600+ pts worth of deathwatch onto the table through DEEP STRIKE instaed of PODDING is BAD.

Spending an entire afternoon watching my Iron Warriors continualy just fail to penetrate/glance the armour on numerous Imperial Guard tanks, after promising all manner of inventive punishments upon return to the Eye Of Terror I realised I had spent a considerable amount of points making all my squads (that I could) into Tank Hunters-off to the pain demons with me!

I assaulted (with Furious Charge, mind you) a unit of 8 or 9 Tau Fire Warriors with 6 Blood Angels Tactical Marines, and they ended up breaking and running a turn later. BREAKING AND RUNNING. I don't know if I was stupid, or just extremely unlucky.

firing my entire surviving guard forces at the same bloody devilfish for two whole turns and rolling about 9, 1's between both the penetrating and glancing hits tables...
i ended up losing by only 29pts too...

i need to stop thinking that i'm any good at this game because the dice *always* abandon me

cheers!

I charged the Nightbringer with a squad of stormtroopers once, forgetting that they couldn't do anything to him, and that he could just throw my guys out of cc.....and they had plasma guns
