If you are using the same Logitech Microphone as me (looks like a straw on a square base) then it should just be plug and use. That's how mine worked at least. However, you are using Vista...the biggest virus known to man.

Ok erus, i use the same type external hard drive...

http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/sup...al_servers/ot3

that will give you the drivers and such, and the other problem i had was that the drive was not initialized. I had to do the following to get it to work:

1 right click on my computer and hit manage.
2. hit storage then removable storage, select the drive, select a network drive and initialize it.

Not sure on the others.

hmm. i'm not really a computer whiz. but did you check their various websites ? i would think that things like patches and drivers would often be on the creator company's website...or on download.com :P haha just try them and see what happens...

Or vista's own patches.

But that is one thing i don't like about vista: compatibility issues and the need for loads of drivers / patches for older products to work.

Exactly why i'm going to dual boot xp and vista once i get my new compy

Partition your disks, or just have 2 HDDs
that way you can have 2 OS's
There are many guides on the ole interweb.

@Erus: what's that last part about the CDs?

Thinking of just backing all my files onto CD's, finding a copy of XP any way I can, and blowing the thing out of the water since my external drive won't work.

After much struggling, I have gotten the application for the external to launch.. As long as it backs things up successfully, Vista shall soon be no more!

I've also decided, rather than buying XP for the new laptop I have to get now, that I will be buying a MacBook, or a MacBook Pro after or soon after, tax refund time.

EDIT - Right.. Well the software is there, comp just can't find the drive.. TALLY HO! TO FIGHT THE CURSED OS!

I refuse to use Vista. And I refuse to pay for XP. And I also refuse for all the BS involved in putting the old OS back on it. Not to mention, in laptops a lot of devices 'mysteriously' won't run with XP on them (the new ones).. I've seen this happen 4 or 5 times at work myself. And frankly, if this happened, i'd end up taking the laptop and hurtling it at the nearest object that coudl shatter it. Plus.... For about 200 bucks more than what a PC laptop is.... I can get a MacBook that TOTALLY kicks it's ass... I can get a laptop I can game on, and it'll probably game better than my PC!!!!

I can let you have a spare XP disk i have got (i think). Putting Vista on your machine was Heresy and your stick will be taken away from your for 5 seconds for that. Vista is another of Microsofts mistakes, they put it in general sale BEFORE it was ready for any sale. MacBooks are good but how dare you.
If you have it all backed up and want this spare XP disk just install and go, disk has service pack 1 for definate need to check for service pack 2. There are talks of a Service Pack 3 for XP and finally a Service Pack 1 for Vista HOORAY!
I used Windows 98 until 2003 that was one hell of an OS i loved it.

anyway email me regarding the XP disk

Dude...Get...A...Linux...

Vista runs fine on Dells, and I'm sure once I get the time I can dig up a small archive of really awesome general-compatibility patches/drivers that will fix all your problems.

And the reason they wanted vista out so soon is become SOME (i mean some as in a group of, not some as in a small amount) pissy PC gamers decided to whine and ***** about wanting games-for-windows, the new Live, and Halo 2 to come out.

Not to mention pressure from the new Mac OS that came out recently (I think recently anyway, cause my friend got his in the mail just a few weeks ago and was thoroughly beaten by me for it)

This is the problem. There will be errors. There will be crap. Yet, most software companies aren't expected to take TOO MANY deadline setbacks and revisions. BUTTT when the actual software is released relatively "on time" but have errors, people **** and whine and are like "oh i would have rather it be finished later but better"

THAT IS BS!

And don't deny, you're all out there.

Though, to be fair, a lot of the people that get the butt end of the deal are the ones that DIDNT complain about setbacks but got the crap product.

*rant end*

and just so we're clear I'm not targeting anyone here with the previous rant.
I'm just saying why such products are released (i.e. "unfinished") especially from big companies, on big-hype projects, which are really really complicated.

*ahem*

Updates... Vista is gone.. I repeat.. Vista is gone... Now running XP Pro, with Service Pack II.

Also... After some frankenstein like surgery, the external hard drive is now an internal.. This means I now possess over a terrabyte (1,000 gigabytes) of storage. Weep in awe.

I am ordering (in process rather) 2 1 gig Kingston RAM sticks to upgrade this fine machine to the mac (Windows XP only realizes 3.2, and I want matched pairs, so i'm going w/ just 2.)

I'm now in process of downloading updates, and messengers. Spybot Seek and Destroy, AVG, and ZoneAlarm are now warding this comp. None of that silly Nortons/Symantec BS.

The laptop has also been fixed. (huzzah! Much rejoicing!). Now, as soon as I find a charge cord and/or the tip for my universal charger, i'm set! This will mean the revival of some old fluff! Plus, once I nab a cheapo router, the missus will resurface here (she's rather impatient to see what exactly keeps me cloistered in the game room).

So rejoice Terrans.. The Lord Commander is back with a vengeance.

IT does... She is the DEFINITE painter out of the house, though I have a bit of pride back with my termie chaplain. Rejoice, for she is a comely lass with much talent. And a rather painfully sharp wit.

Maybe you lot can keep pestering her enough she'll paint!
