| In line with the best tank thread, I thought it would be interesting to create a debate on what the best walker in the game is. The only walkers I'm familiar with are the Sentinel and Dreadnaught (SM and Ork) so I can't really contribute that much to the topic. |

| Don't put the Wraithlord on here- its no more of a walker than a Carnifex! And is very, very nice ![]()

| the age of insects ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | wait killermoose...why aren't we considering the wraithlord? just cause it's a beat stick? haha. and yea, i'd say that the defiler should be considered..and if it is, i think i'm gonna side with that thing for now. so either defiler [for sheer awesomeness and long range hail of doom] or dreads, for sweet customizability and decent stats. although the wraithlord is good too.....haha -ant

It is dirt cheap (3 for the price of one dreadnought) and you can put an ass cannon on. AND they have scout!

Ass cannon???!!! As in assault cannon????!!!! Don't you mean Autocannon? Oh, and the Wraithlord isn't a walker because its a Montrous Creature, not a vechicle, if we include Montruous Creature, I say a Shooty 'fex is defenatly the best... for 150 points you get a monster that can shoot 1 twin-linked BS 3 Large Blast S9 shoot every turn... thats just sick (its a tad bit expesnive, but, if you compare it to most anti-tank squads, its not to bad).

| Yeah, Masterofweirdness is right... no MC's... So, best walker? Hmm... thats a tough one... a sqaud of War Walkers with Scatter lasers or Starcannons are amazing, but I do love Dreadnoughts... I'm going to go with the War Walker. They can take many different weapon options, can be put in a squad, and lay down so much fire its just silly! 24 Strength 6 shots from a squad of 3 War Walkers with Scatter Lasers... for very little points!

| I can only say Dreadnoughts... as thats the only Walker I have every fought! (and I don't know the points for Sentiels).

Blog Entries: 1 | i'll chime out for the humble sentinel too. coupled with heavy flamers and the droptroops doctrine they can literally be a real pain in the enemies butt!

| I miss the sentinels with assault cannons. Not the models but the assault cannon. When they took that away from me I was devastated and to make it worse they didnt come out with models for a long while and i had to stare at my assault cannons as i called them multilasers. The shame. Unfortunately the Warwalker tops the Sentinel through and through. War Walker is cheaper, it isn't open topped can carry two weapons, has two attacks and 4 initiative. The only down side is that you must equip two weapons and that maybe the Sentinels weaponry suits the roles of a scout walker marginally better. Only other quasi-walker that's been missed is the Dark Eldar Talos, which is cool but rarely fits in a DE army quite right. It has toughness and a skimmer rule so don't know how much of a walker it really is. Fits the profile though.

| i have to go with my trusty sentinel for the following reasons; a) dirt cheap! sure it's only av10 and open-toped, but at only say 50pts for a mobile autocannon you really can't complain! b) scout. sentinels' are great for either getting the drop on a unit that really must die quick-fast, or else you can use them for a cheap bluff. even better, thanks to this rule they can be deployed in escalation missions to really allow you to take the early initiative from your opponent. c) sentinels can make use of certain doctrines such as drop troops. (as pointed out above!) in all honesty, the most hated and loathed model in my entire guard army is my 55pts heavy flamer sentinel... there really is no counter to it, other than for my opponent to hope the scatter goes badly! d) sacrifical assault unit. it's av10 and thus will give even S4 troops a tough time... slap on an armoured crew compartment and now S4 model need to hit it, plus roll two 6's in a row to destroy it! a sentinel can easily hold up a nasty assault unit like howling banshees or hormagaunts all day long. e) cheap source for improved coms. very few armies have the ability to take a model or a piece of wargear that allows you a reserves re-roll... a sentinel can be given a multi-laser & improved coms for only 60pts!!! (for eldar players, an autarch will cost you a valuable HQ slot and at least 70pts...) well, there you have it... my love of sentinels in all their humble glory! cheers!

| hmmmmm.....this is a tough question... chaos dreadnaught is best in flexability. very shooty, as anti-tank or anti-infantry, or very close combat (against both) sentinal is cheapest though, but its very fragile. |

Sentinels top it for me. This has been said already but they're dirt cheap. I could by 100 mars bars for the same price a Sentinel costs in points Also, they can scout, mount Las Cannons, and so on. And they're just about the only really good Imp walker in CoD.

| I'll go with War Walkers. Armed with scatter lasers and spirit stones, they become a highly effective unit. I'd go with Sentinels second (a close second) followed by Killer Kanz. Just my 2 cents.... ~fearlessgod~
