Default frank miller's 300 - review

well, i just got back from the theater and there's only three words to describe this film: Holy Fething Crap!!!

the cinimatography was abolutely stunning and quite beautiful to watch! granted the fight scenes are not historically accurate (mainly because it wouldn't be safe!) but they are none the less eye-poppingly good!
there was also a good deal of humor too, mainly from the spartans and leonidas in particular... (for example, when he goes on about how he could have sent the women to fight!)

oh and yes, it's gory and of corse has some rather explicet nudity so for all you younger members, be sure to bring your ID because anyone today even suspected of being under 18 was stopped and asked to prove their age!

alll in all, if you get a chance this weekend, i heartily recomend going to see this film!
just be warned that you'll want to go well before showtime as the theater was packed for the 1st show and as we were coming out, people were already lining up for the next show that was still an hour away!

cheers!

omg omg omg omg omg
i want to see this soo bad
the baltimore newspaper movie critics must be insane, because they gave it bad reviews. they said it wasnt historically acurate, which is true. the director was basing it off of a comic book, by the same guy who did 'Sin City' (another great movie)

i have to say that thermopolyea is without a doubt my favorite battle. the greatest quotes have come out of that. the greek in my signiture comes from that (come take them)
im an ancient history nut so when i heard this was coming out i was estatic. i think im seeing it tomorrow

I just saw 300, and by the changer of ways, it was awesome. It had some of the best combat i've seen for a while. If you haven't seen it yet, do so now, you'll not regret it.

well, as one of the local toronto news paper critics put it; "if you want to learn about what really happend, then go turn on the history chanel! if you want to watch a movie based around actual events that's more entertaining than accurate, then go see 300!"

dan, i hope you got the chance to see it this weekend mate!

hopefully this film will get some oscar approval as it is truely deserving of at least half the technical awards!

cheers!

well i just saw it today and well my chest swelled with pride, i cheered the spartans on and now know that i will have the last bits of dialouge about the 10,000 spartans and 30,000 greeks fighting the horde tatooed somewhere on my body ill probably get all of the dialouge on my back. (when you really think about it theres not that much talking)

a few probelms with the movie that i had was

1. Why the hell did the ugly lepers get the beautiful spartan girl as their slave. that pissed me off!

2. How come the second mutant (the executor) never fight. that would have been awesome!

3. the way the captains son died.

Things i loved about it

1. awesome fight coreagrophy

2. hot spartan women (yeah nudity but it was done very well. wasnt gratitous very tasteful)

3. wonderful actors

4. when the spartan just stands in front of the rhino and throws the spear and kills it easly.

5. the awesome quotes and laughing when remember the saying of fighting in the shade.

6. This is madness! NO THIS IS SPARTA!

7. When the queen kills the traitor and uses his own words on him.

after all that im reloading rome total war on my computer and making an all spartan army to fight the world

fear not brother! the film is most definately worth the wait.
for me what really sets it off so spectacularly is just how they filmed it; all the persians in monotone black/white shades while the spartans have those lovely deep red, flowing capes! (if you've seen the phantom of the opera, think back to the 'masqurade' number and how the main characters wore the only real colour in their costumes!)

and yes, gerard butler gets all the good lines! (though i still say the 'fight in the shade' bit was the best!)

cheers!

I saw 300 yeterday, and I have to say, the cinematics are impressive, but the whole plot was dissapointing.

dissapointing plot? we already know whats going to happen. this for sure history has taught us.

i will say this though the last few lines of dialouge are amazing and inspiring.

warning: becareful when you walk out of this movie. its just like a bruce lee movie. you walk out wishing someone would try something and you would go spartan on them.

we had to break up 2 fights yesterday because of this great movie

lol i think the words my friends and i use to describe 300 are "satisfyingly crappy." the plot/characters/some of the script are eh, but the action is great, the "boss battles" lol are cool. all in all, a very manly movie. very manly.

haha
