Default Going into a GW shop/store

Does anyone hate it as much as me?

I recently went on holiday in Norfolk, and we went to Norwich for the day. Me, Missus and son were walking through (I made sure I checked where GW was First!! saaad I know). It looked like a nice store but when I went in (even though it was empty) I was greeted with the usual BO smell affiliated with GW a weird lesbian with pink dredlocks (generally looked dirty in a mucky way) talking to a blue shirt in a really loud voice about SoB to the point it totally grated every part of my living body.
I couldnt work out if the BO was coming from her or the staffer.

When she went, I went up to the counter where the you blue shirt started talking to me in a really irritating way. He asked me what army I did and replied Eldar. "cool awesome man thats unusual" If you heard his voice and saw him you would know what I ment! He then started putting a hard sell on me with Appoc, the entire time I was saying, "yeah I know, it's great" "no, my army is big enough for it"

I came out of the shop with the missus who gave me a look of "you geek" and I thought that's just the sort of thing that gives this hobby a bad name!!

The other reasons I don't like going in are for the usual over excited kids and the loud shouting.

I get Krom or Drax to pick stuff up for me when they go as they dont mind joining in with the kids and gaming in store.

Is it just me, and am just a miserable old get, or does anyone feel the same?

lol, tbf some staff are really decent, and know what they're talking about and seem like decent people, it's just there is a high percent of the other sort as well. If you go in a Saturday you cant get to speak for that long to the decent staffers because they are trying to run a crèche at the same time!!

I've never been into a GW store but from what most people say it's a nightmare just like you described.

then again, people with the strongest opinions are usually the ones to speak out.

Every time I go into my local hobby shop they look at me like I'm ether going to steal something or just rob the ****ing place. Granted I'm no saint, but damn the people that hang around there are a bunch of oddballs, and not the good insane kind ether.

nah its just like restaurants you never hear good stories just the bad ones. ive always liked going into the GW when it was around me. cool people and very helpful. and with that type of store there are always kids yelling so who cares laugh at their stupidity and game on

at my store there was like 15 tables to game on with shelves of terrain you could pick from. painting lessons i never took and regret now and the employees always gave advice if you asked

Our local store (Hull) is small and gets very foisty! The gaming tables leave only a very small gap between them and the stock so it's hard to browse!

Beginning to think I am a misery guts.

nah i'm a moany ol' **** too! i hate the whole "hi how're you doing today, anything i can help you with?" within the first 10 seconds thing. yeah i got something you can do that'll help me...bugger off!!! i'll come find you when i need something, alright!

and don't even get me started on the kids who hang out there! i made the mistake of having a game at my local store a while ago. what atarted as me against this kid turned into me against half the damn shop! every time the kid made a move everyone else was like "no don't do that cos then he'll do this". just let the kid play the freaking game!!!

i think i need to go away and calm down...
