Default little monster needs help deciding!

okay, i haven't touched a model in about a month or so now... (pitifull i know!)
the problem is, i simply have too many possible projects to choose from!

so i'm asking for your help to finally decide which army deserves my attention for the next 4-8 months!
my choices are;

- the bearers of dark knowledge.
a chapter of radical space marines built using the black templar rules. they believe that chaos is simply a tool and that a rightous mind and faithful spirit can bend the weapons of the enemy against them...
colour shceme is dark brown armour w/lots of flames, littanies of faith, robes and chains ardorning the armour!

- lamenters 3rd company.
a mainly scout-based army that represents the chapter's newly formed reserve company... the few battle brothers that remain fullfill the specialist roles such as devastator squads and command squads.

- the faithful of the devine chosen: word bearer LatD cult
a dark parody of an ecclesiarchy war of faith. basically it's a true dark crusader force that uses lots of 'faithful' (counting as mutants), traitor guard and daemons as fodder and/or shock/terror troops with only a few actual word bearer marines...
the entire force is of corse led by a dark apostle who either converts or kills anyone in the path of his zealous armies! acting as his honour guard is a unit of winged possessed...

- plague fleet of nurgle.
a tyranid splinter fleet that's been "improved" by grandfather nurgle and now has been unleashed as his newest plague upon the hapless imperium!
oh, and yes, this is another one of those '88 models and all of 'em must be converted' armies!

- stealthy tau army.
damnit! another potential convert to the great good!!!
basically i'd look at including lots of sneaky stuff like pathfinders, monat crisis teams, mounted fire warriors, kroot and pirianas...
colour scheme would be dark reds off-set with deep yellow/orange & darker greys/blues

as you can see, there's alot of choice there! so please, help me get it down to at least 2! (okay, maybe 3 simply because i'm only barking on a good day - i'll spare you all the horrors of a bad day!)

cheers!

The Bearers of Dark Knowledge sound familiar to a chapter I saw in an old White Dwarf that has access to the Banner of Chaos Undivided and the commander gets a random Chaos weapon. Fun list to play, wish i could remember the chapter name. Go for it!
The other list i would like to see is the Lamenters 3rd. Just because i have never really seen a scout heavy marine force.

that would be the relictors! and yes, they can use daemon weapons and banners!
basically that's one of the places i got the idea for the chapter. the other being a throwback to FFIV were you start of as the dark knight and fight evil with the 'arms of the dark side'!!!

okay, so that's 1 vote bearers and 1 vote lamenters!

cheers!

I love this idea and how much potential it has for fluff and converting! I mean the above ideas were good, but I have seen them down before, one too many times. But this! This is nice.

I agree, go with the nurgle fleet, i think it has the most potential to be really freakin sweet. I can just picture a bloated stinky hive tyrant shuffling across the board...

the nurgle fleet sounds pretty cool. as for the list, i'm really liking the sound of the "bearers of dark knowledge" cause you've mentioned it a bunch of times in your posts and it always intrigued me :]

Bearers of Dark Knowledge. With your conversion ideas, I would very much like to see this.

Go for the plague nids! Seeing as you seem to excell with converting almost everything I think they would look great! And I haven't seen it done before.

okay, so let's see now;
bearers; 3 votes
lamenters; 2 votes
plague 'nids; 5 votes
word bearers latd; 2 votes

hmmmmm... looks like i might not have my sanity around for too long then!

as for the force comps, the lamenters would of corse be mainly scouts with only a few actual space marines who would all be wearing mk5 or mk6 power armour... (might actually use the aspire to glory trait and definately the faithful unto death trait!)

the bearers have i think a dozen or so actual word bearers! everything else is either daemons, traitors and/or mutants... (i like my hoards of zealous fodder!)

the 'nid would be that horrific 5 big bug + 83 little bug swarm list that's been giving a few people nightmares in the 'nid section of the forums!lol.

cheers!

hahaha! i can see all the millions of beedy little eyes glaring over your way now!

it looks like the plague fleet is a popular idea! i guess i will have to give up my ever so fragile sanity...
okay, so at least i know which army i'll be taking to astronomi-con nottingham now! (projected date; sometime in '08 most likely!) gives me plenty of time to;
a) buy all those bugs! (including 4 'fexes!!! )
b) cover 50% or more of each and every bug with green stuff 'blessings'
oh and i promise some WIP and other photos once we figure out how to charge up our broken digi camera... ("i hate technology" #424,682)

again, because i have most of the models needed, i might start the bearers as my mates aren't giving me much choice but to play in a couple conflicts next year! (all i have for the lamenters right now is 5 scouts!)

the LatD again need to be totally bought and there's alot of bitz ordering involved too...
so i might have to save getting alot of that till next christmas. (damn the governments and their heartless 14% sales tax!)

cheers!

if i had a camera id start a nurgle bug army now and do an informal competition but alas no. good luck with the project and youre sure to get LOTS of feedback from me, especially if theres pictures involved.

the deamonhunter codex was my inspiration with the 'nurgles ot infested hive tyrant' thingy from the back of the book

i think for new year's i'll spend the night and following day building a few test bugs!
and also a bearer's initiate and his pet acolyte...

both forces will ultimently have a helluva lot of green stuff work needed on them! (though the bugs obviously will have the most...)

thanks again guys!
cheers!

What ever you decide I'm sure will be very cool.

hey thanks a bunch mate!

the main thing about the word bearers is the big bitz order i'd need;
- 6 breatonnian pegasus knights pegasus wings
- saint celestine's cloak w/cherub's
-15 or so various necromunda cawdor & redemptionist gangers including deacons w/flamers
and on top of all that i'd need to get most of the daemons and the defiler!

sadly, i don't have the money for that right now... (damn you newly released empire army!!!)

plus i'm still up in the air about how to covert the dark apostle?!! (guess who's getting celestine's cool looking cloak?!)

the BoDK on the other hand, i only need to get another black templar upgrade box, 3 attack bikes, 2 boxes of scouts and 2 land speeders! (i can bit order the razorback turret sprue as i have a rhino laying around...)

still, i most likely will convert up a few traitors and the word bearers w/meltaguns!

cheers guys!
