Also if the movies and games (and all of my US History textbooks) hold true then there were trenches in WWII... just not long networks everywhere and trench stalemates for months.
They were used, just not much. no longer the means of defense like they were used to, now just connecting various bunkers or set atop a hill to provide a tiny bit o' cover and such.
They were still used quite extensively on the Eastern front by the Russian. Especially the Guard brigades. and in the old style even.

Trenches were also used extensively by US forces as defensive structures around NATO bases in Vietnam...(touchy subject I know)...although not as extensively as WWI or in the manner the Russians used them in defense lines during WWII...now a days it just bulldoze a big wall of sand up around yer perimeter and set someone up there every ten to twenty meters with NVs and a 'vox' box... LPOP anyone? Here's another kicker...if you ever look at the layout of some US military bases...you will notice that there are some that have 'trenches' at strategic locations, some in the form of drainage channels (like at Fort Knox) others just a simple creek bed...

Really... I thought he didn't use it in battles, but just gassed the Jews.

Hmm... will have to look it up.

Edit: According to Wiki (so it could be wrong) Chemical Weapons were stockpiled and prepared for use by both the US and the Germans, but never used. The Japanese did use Chemical Weapons against the Chinese, but not against the Allies. So, ya, Chemical weapons were used in WWII, but just by the Japanese in China.

well NBC warfare has been around since the greeks put scorpions in pottery and launched them over the walls of the enemy, and a little thing called Greek fire that would burn hotter on water
to get a hold of strategies you should read the books of their specific masters
for your particular taste
if you like:
Tank/ Armor read: Irwin Rommel's book or George Patton's
Carrier tactics : Admiral Bull Halsey
Cavalry : George Armstrong Custer
Anti Xenos : Ellen Riply
and so on just look up the particular Tactic and there are books for them
i know Reading Halsey's book improved my Gothic game exponentialy
as long as your army mirrors what they used in my case my gothic fleet is fighter bomber heavy. and my marine fleet uses only Thunderhawks great stuff Really

Yeah. I read a lot of military history. Mostly about the weapons, but some of the tactics too. Anyone read Heinz Guderian's Achung Panzer?

Not sure if it was Greek. I saw a show on it a long time ago on the History Channel. Something about ancient secret weapons programs, and I can't for the life of me remember what it is called.

Good choice. I vote for Temujin. He was left for dead as a child, had no formal schooling, and created one of the largest empires in history.
