Hey, what kind of music does everyone listen to? Does anyone play/has anyone played an instrument(s)? Personally I love music and I listen to it all the time, and play it when I can.

For starters:
Listen:
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Nightwish
Rammstein
Ludo (ludorock.com - go there!)
ZZ Top
Metallica
Depeche Mode
Big Audio Dynamite
Glenn Miller Orchestra
Benny Goodman
Tenacious D

There are other bands I listen to, but these are some of my absolute favorites.

Oh, right, instruments! I almost forgot!
soprano Clarinet
tenor Saxophone

I'm trying to learn guitar so I can help rock live on. Classic rock, like AC/DC.

i love the sax, its such a cool instrument, great for jamming! if theres one thing ive always wanted to learn, its the violin or something similar to that. the music it makes is so beautiful.

That's one reason I chose it. Originally, I had to play clarinet becuse my hand was too small to fit around the sax without hitting keys I wasn't supposed to. But yeah, awesome jamming instrument! I love it when it growls!

Yeh, we should form a 40k band

'And now, the musical stylings of 40kterra'

Ah, the screaming fans, the record deals, the money...... I can almost taste it.....

Well, my dad's friend had a cool idea once: a drummer plays a beat, records it, and posts it on the net. Another instrument downloads it, listens, plays their own melody, records it, and puts it on the net. Musicians could start a band an never even meet each other!

But yeah, 40k Terra band a little improbable...

okay, i admit it - i'm in no way musically adept or anything and never have been any good at it! though i did attempt (very badly mind!) to play the flute in gr7-8 music class (what can i say, it's too damn cold up here in the northern wastes!)

anyways, as for my musical tastes:

when i'm painting;
- andrew loyd webber's 'the phatom of the opera' (either the movie soundtrack and/or original toronto cast cd)
- any movie soundtracks composed by hans zimmer! (gladiator, the peacemaker, pirates of the carribean, the rock just to name a couple!)
- 13th warrior by jerry goldsmith
- the lord of the rings movie soundtracks

when i'm gaming/converting models;
- nickelback
- three days grace
- our lady peace
- simple plan
- linkin park
- rammstien
- rob zombie
- marylin manson
- system of a down

i'm barking, i know

cheers!

DRAGONFORCE is the best warhammering music. All the power vocals and saving the world and insane guitars. Battle metal at its best, kinda gets you in the mood for slaughter (in a good way).

Apart from that, ANYTHING. I'm highly eclectic in my tastes.

Same here. If it sounds good, I listen to it. If it sounds like crap, I throw a blunt object at the radio.

And, just for the record, I've been playing percussion for 4 years now. Only one in the family who can hold an instrument for more than 3 monthes.

i've heard the name before, but i can't recall any of his stuff?!

having grown up in canada during the 80's and early 90's i can also say that i sadly have a good deal of bryan adams cd's... (i know, truely sad!)
i do however enjoy the will ferguson critique of celine dion though as he puts it, she doesn't just hold onto a note for an indefinate time, she out-right strangles it for days on end!!!

cheers!

John Williams is my absolute favorite movie composer! Did he do LotR?

Also, though I do not have it, I recall the "Master and Commander" soundtrack was pretty good.

haha what a random thread! oh well. i play piano, not so much classical since i stopped lessons but i play indie rock piano things now, mostly by ear [ie listening to them OVER and OVER and figuring it out as i go]

as for things i listen to...hm. well i love indie rock, screamo, emo, rock, "post-hardcore," christian, weird funk stuff, dance/electronic, classical sometimes, jazz, oldies, just about everything EXCEPT gangster rap, heavy heavy heavy nonsense death metal, and country :]

woohoo!

to inq rosenadel: no, the lotr soudtracks were composed by howard shore. (another crazy canuck!) sadly he embaressed us all with his horridly long oscar acceptance speech though...

Ahh, that's right. I didn't think so, but I wasn't sure.

Hey another just all-around awesome composer is Percy Grainger. He writes the coolest and weirdest stuff! I played a song called "Molly on the Shore" that was a crazy-fast Irish sounding piece featuring Clarinet and where I was playing nearly constantly. I had lots of solos and chances to show off. I still remember how to play the beginning, it's that awesome!

I think Hans Zimmer is great. Pirates of the Carribian was amazing.

Sadly enough, I listen to Pi a lot too. Yes, the number. In a song. I was listening to it with headphones on for about 2-3 hours, each day, and after a while I just forgot I was hearing it. Now I can recite 175 digits of Pi from memory.
