Default Random Good Deeds

I was thinking about a good Off Topic Thread this weekend and was hit by the amazing ammount of response that life throws at you.

I was taking a day trip with my wife and we came across a mother and daughter broke down with a flat tire about 20 miles from nowhere and their cell phone was dead.

I changed their tire for them and they were on their way.
It felt good.

So here it is:

POST YOUR RANDOM GOOD DEEDS!

lets hear what you do for others without asking.

I give rides to a girl that works for honda since her family only has one car. They can't get two places at the same time.

Steve, you big softie! Just recently I helped a handicapped woman load her groceries into her van at Walmart. I'm always willing to help, so I'm not a complete heathen!

Donating minis to the Umanitary Organisation Of Getting Wakim Started In 40K

A good deed of mine?

Can`t pin one down i do lots and lots since i treat people the way i want them to treat me :P

The first thing that comes to mind is givind someone a whole bunch of PC games in mint condition (you have no idea how expensive PC games were for this country a couple of years ago).

Helping strangers with trivial things happens almost dayily :P if i`m not in a rush

Donating Old Chaos off to a fellow gamer in need.
Securing Wakim his first minis (and yes, I have... you just need to tell me what models/faction you want for your 2 troops + HQ)
Helping two eldery Native American vendors set up their goods at a swap meet I travel to twice a year. I usually refuse payments, but somehow money or goods finds its way to my tent >.<
When my grandpa lived, I ran bingo and helped new people settle into the assisted living place he was at.
Teaching history and math/science to my little sister while she was home schooled.
Being a tutor for middle school kids with reading and math problems.

I do a lot of random things of kindness. I have had much kindness and help done to me in my life, so whenever I have the opportunity, I do whatever I can whenever I can. It often times cuts into my own life or living, but it helps others, so I figure it'll balance in the end. Besides, it's all connected for me. I enjoy helping others. If I could support a family on it, i'd be a Social Worker or teacher, but Kentucky just dosen't pay enough.

small things like holding doors for people and stepping aside to let others pass, even remembering to say please and thankyou, i do without even thinking about. it amazes me how many people don't bother with the lttle courtesies. when i have the opportunity to do something special for someone i generally take it. i helped a young mother carry her child in a pushchair up 4 flights of stairs on the underground (subway) the other day...the kid gave me a really funny look all the way up but his mum was thankful

I'm Canadian,
I am the essense of politeness and kindness,
My good deeds are innumerable.

Okay not actually... but I've done some decent stuff lol. You know, volunteering at places, helping seniors, tutoring fellow students, donating to canned food drives, etc etc the usual stuff.

Oh yeah and one time i was in mcdonalds i saw a kid crying because he'd broken his happy meal toy, and his parents were trying to shush him, so i bought him another two... of course you can either categorize that as nice or just stupid/wierd/strange lmao

Nothing SPECIAL though, and nothing recent though, because my attention is focused on one (read: ONE) friend, who is, for some reason, stuck them self in a ****hole of problems (social/psych + chronic depression of sorts).

I try to help, sooth them, give them some LOGICAL SENSE and things like that, but it doesn't seem to do much good because they seems to like to argue every point i make and resist every bit o' help.

Yes i very much realise they/them does not match with a singular person.

Hairy, glad to hear the the long haird among us still use courtesy towards others.

Torq,
Well, believe me sometimes just the fact that you talk to them can make more difference in their mind than what you say. depression really sucks. I know, I've been there.

Anyone else?

I seem to be in the same boat as Hairy. Except for the little kids giving me funny looks. Gee, I wonder why he was giving you a look, Hairy.

Steve, VBS means Vacation Bible School, at least it does around here.

Well my good deed?

I saved a little boy's life a few years ago who had fallen through the "safety" net of his trampoline and was stuck in the zipper and literally hanging himself. His mother was inside and couldn't hear the two other kids trapped within the trampoline's netting screaming for her (one was my sister), and they could neither get out to run for help nor pull him back up. I just happened to be walking over to get my sister for dinner when I heard the screams.

Wow, that one is hard to top. I am now sure of it, us gamers are really helpful (even though were kinda nerdy and most of us could use a haircut and shave), it's all good, we're all good guys and girls. Funny how people can look at you with shock when you do even the smallest courtesy to them, especially when you look like you just crawled out of the swamp and wear heavy metal tees and camoflage like me. Big brutish softies FTW!

Hmmm...I suppose I am too modest to answer this but I did help my ex-wife move cross country...drove 11 states in four days...

I also have this tendancy to hold doors and the like for others...common courtesy as it were...only thing is...around here...when you do something to help a person out...they look at you like yer expectin something in return...which is a bit unnerving at times...still I do what I can where I can...Grandfather would expect nothing less.

some if the nicest people i have ever met fit that description, while many of the nastiest people i have encountered were well groomed and smartly dressed. proof that judging books by their cover ain't smart.
