Well DONE Erus old chap, on your splendid mentioning of hell. I mean oblivion. I mean.. Vista... *Goes and runs to be sick*
From now on in this rant I will refer to it as "It that cannot be named."
On with the MADNESS!
Ps. Maybe i'll just refer to it as Vista.

VISTA. DAMN. VISTA. Where do I START? Do not let Vista's looks decieve you, friends. Or it's smooth interface. IT IS THE EMBODIMENT OF EVIL. I'll give you an example of a bug I got. Please, feel free to look away in disgust:
Stage 1) I run a game [Typically CoD 4]
Stage 2) Game minmises, and all of a sudden my task bar is at the top and unmovable.
Yes, that really happened, and yes, I cried. To an extent. Okay, I didn't cry. But ... anyway. What is WRONG with this thing?! They DARE charge £50 for it?! Are Microsoft insane? For one, they've released an INCOMPLETE PRODUCT that has to be PATCHED every FIVE DAMNED MINUTES for you to get it to work without errors! And Guess what, THOSE ERRORS ARE STILL THERE.

And compatibility? Don't even MENTION that word in the same sentence as VISTA. It told me that my Vista compatible motherboard was incompatible with Vista. Like What the HELL? And my Vista compatible graphics card. Pleasant suprise. I'll explain what Vista SHOULD say on startup:
"Please prepare yourself for one hell of a ******* up operating system, containing many errors, bugs, and a cool feature allowing you to shut it down. Honestly, that part is the best part*
Perhaps i'm being unrational. The interface is nice. The graphical capabilites are nice. ...That's about it. And unrational isn't even a word. Apologies for that.

And another thing. Don't expect to run anything taxing. Unless you have 20 GB DDR-2 RAM and a Quad-Core processor. Because Vista eats memory like a fat person eats children. I mean cake. It will eat up your RAM quicker than you can say "Wow, look at that, my RAM's gone." Honestly try it. (Saying Wow, Look at that, My RAM's gone EXTREMELY quickly or EXTREMELY slowly does not apply here. I will find and destroy your very being if I discover this has happened.) Processes running: Explorer and the other essential system processes: Memory used 50%. That's on 3GB DDR-2 and an AMD Athlon 4200 2x Dual Core. That's gone slightly wrong I think. I may aswell have no processor at all. Probably help with system performance.

And Vista's improvements over XP other than graphical? Nil. Sure, you get a sidebar. A sidebar that refuses to go away when you tell it to. Even if you ask it really politely. It's like a really rude man. Other than that it's neat.

Just.. when Erus said Vista messed his PC up, he really meant it. I advise you heavily to use caution when you approach this mad man (Both Erus & Vista of course.)

Which don't get to the server, I might add. And it's gone beyond beta testing. In fact, there was a beta version released. The acutal "Finished" product was incomplete still. I've done my research

Indeed it has, and my suggestion would be.. Oh God.. Poor you.. I think the best solution would be to search your house for an old Windows XP cd, buy the PC and downgrade to XP. If not, then make sure you only get the Home version of Vista. It doesn't seem to have AS many bugs as the other versions.

Killer, either you have really terrible bad luck, or I just have good luck. I've had vista for about 3+ months now, and haven't had any problems with it. And I can run taxing programs with only minor slow downs. The DoW Attribute Editor, which used to take 15-20 minutes to open before changed to Vista(and upgraded to a dual core), now takes 2 minutes to open. So if you don't mind, you wanna' point out another specific instance of Vista sucking?

for powerpoint and word and excel for my accounting classes and so on
is that on the vista "home" version?

Lol. The dual core part is what's caused that. I was exaggerating - I always do in rants. But your one of the lucky ones. 95% of people I speak to hate Vista.. and complain about slow downs.. what processor are you using?

As far as I know, it's available. But if it isn't, there is a free version of office. If you need Microsoft Office specifically, it can be bought seperately from any big PC retailer..

Forgot to mention them! USER ACCESS CONTROL. I turned it off the instant I got Vista. And you know what It said to me?
"Would you like User Access Control to disable User Access Control?"
No, of course not. I pressed that button for pure entertainment, and boy am I getting it!

Hopefully when they bring out the service packs it will improve as it did with XP.

Knock on wood here but i have had my Vista for over a year know and no issues at all,except forme being a Tech Tard.I am not saying theres nothing wrong Vista but luckaly not mine.

Ya... got a new laptop this Christmas... Vista... no problems.

The latest versions of Vista do seem more stable than the earlier versions, however, I suggest noone does an XP to Vista upgrade. This is a bad idea.
