Blog Entries: 1  |  Serious Virus Warning received a print out of an e-mail from my dad today, who got it from his company's IT Dept. Here it is: Anyone using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on. This information arrived at the IT department of MGM Timber this morning, directly from both Microsoft and Norton. Please send this to anyone you know who has access to the Internet in any form. You may have already received an apparently harmless e-mail with a Power Point presentation called 'Life is Beautiful' If you receive it DO NOT OPEN THE FILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and delete it immediately. If you open this file, a message will appear on your screen saying: "It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.' Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, and the person who sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password. This is a new virus which began to circulate on Saturday afternoon. AOL has already confirmed the severity, and all current anti-virus programs are incapable of destroying it. The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner.' PLEASE FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, and ask them to PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

 | yea this sounded like a hoax. if this virus was real, then the internet service providers would send out a warning email of their own. they have the capacity to do that very easily and wouldnt rely on the 'tell your friends to tell their friends to tell ect. ect.' method. another way you can tell: "LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC" is not specific at all. viruses attack specific things, be they files, programs, access information, whatever. thats just how they work. if they (whoever 'they' are) knew about the virus then they would also know what it goes after. they would say: 'This virus attacks and deletes files and programs, steals passwords and other access information, bla de bla bla bla.'

| I'm still pretty sure it still is a hoax, as I've seen this exact message on other sites where it is called one, and Symantec (Norton Internet Security) have confirmed it's one too... Still, if there is an email, and we should be worried, please let us see! I'm sure it'll scare the crap out of all of us...
