| not to sure... but i'd still go the paperback copies for now as they're; a) great for taking into school/work with you b) light weight and compact! c) dirt cheap the omnibus is quite expensive because it's hardcover... best bet to see if another one's coming anytime this year is to head over to the black library site and pull up the comming soon section. cheers!

| Sergeant ![]() | why don't you do your research before asking daft questions? one quick look round blacklibrary.co.uk would have brought to your attention that not only have the first three(the Founding) and the subsequent four(The Saint) have both been released as hardback Omnibus' - infact, the Founding omnibus is just about to be released as a paperback.

Local libraries often have some BL books in stock. It also means if you don't like the book it won't have cost you you're much needed money. ![]() | |

As is the Gaunts Ghosts series (Dan Abnett) The Ultramarines/Iron Warriors series is readable (Graham McNeil) The Horus Heresy series is very very good (so far four different writers involved - Dan Abnett, Graham McNeil, Ben Counter, James Swallow) The Gotrek and Felix (-slayer) series is great (William King, Nathan Long) The Commissar Cain series is also very good (Sandy Mitchell)

| Ok, thanks. I may have to give Eisenhorn a try, and I've often thought about Gaunts Ghosts. Thanks for the help!

| Extremis Diabolus ![]() ![]() | EISENHORN. It is the best series of books you will ever read (The omnibus is a collection, so it is technically three books). Ever. Bar none. Gaunt's Ghosts are fun, but can get a little repetitive. The Horus Heresy stuff was good. EISENHORN.

| I agree with the eisenhorn choice, the omnibus gives you some short stories too. I've not found GGhosts to be repetitive but everyone is different. The new series, Traitor general onwards, has made Gaunt a bit dark and cynical. Recommend any Dan abnett. Single paperbacks are better than the omnibuses in my opinion, more expensive in the long run but much easier to handle and its easier to find your fav book or part in a book.

| In the 40k line, I have to endorse Eisenhorn and Ravenor, both excellent Inquisitor novels, but By far my Favorite is Sandy Mitchell's outrageous adventures of Caiphas Cain. There are 4 so far, and I for one can't wait for the next one. The C. S. Goto Novels are pretty much junk, and "The Conquest of Armageddon" is the worst piece of garbage I ever read. I don't care for Gav Thorpe's stuff, but the Gaunt novels, at least the first 4 or so are pretty good (they fall off a little in my opinion startint with "Tanith Silver"). Dan Abnett is almost always the bomb, and William King's Gotrek and Felix novels are excellent for the Warhammer Fantasy buff. Next on my own list is King's Space Wolf Trilogy. |
