well apparently my wife won a trip to sin city through her job so looks like we'll be going to vegas the end of march for a week everything is paid for of course other then spending money. just in time for tax returns! ive never been so im pretty excited. i dont gamble much but will try my hand at stuff, and not to mention FREE BEER! WOOOO HOOOO

Make a budget for gambling. take your wife with you. give her the money for the taxi fare. take your (large) cut of the gambling money and be prepared to waste it all

its still free to me, i can play the nickel slots all day lose say $5 bucks drink say $30 bucks worth of beer. i win! besides were doing more then just gambling. we got reservation to some nascar thing where we get to ride is a actual race car. which isnt to bad i think.

vegas is awesome there are several things you have to do while you are there
1 go to a sports book and bet on the biggest long shot
only like 5-10 bucks
2 ride that rollercoaster on top of the building
3 see a show
4 get hammerd

free vacation huh? thats cool. here's a couple of tips from my whyf who's a croupier in a london casino...

-set yourself a budget for the night. if you start winning, put your budget ammount back in you pocket and just play with your winnings. this will limit your losses.

-if you want a game you can play all night then head for the blackjack tables. the odds are only 3:2 so you won't be winning big time but you won't be loosing too much either, so your money will last longer. insider tip: the dealer must stick on a draw of 17 or higher, so they have a bit of a handicap. this will help you assess the odds as you play.

-roulette is a lot more risky but the returns are potentially much higher. the odds on a single number are 35:1 so there's the potential for some big winnings. all the tables have a maximum bet so unless you're feeling particullary brave find a quiet table with a low max. there are some special types of bet that allow you to cover a spread of numbers for a bit more money but improve the odds of winning. the dealer will be able to tell you about these, which is why you want a quiet table so they have the time to explaine it to you.

Congrats on the free trip. I go to Vegas every year and here are a few things you can do while there. If you have a rental car.
The Hoover Dam (go on the Dam tour. It's a Dam good time)
Freemont Street (at night, its cool!)
Red Rock Canyon, its all the way west of the strip.
Valley of Fire and Lake Mead (A good day trip)
Go to the Tropicana and go to the Comedy Stop. Its always a good show and not expensive.
If you want to drink your face off and have a chance of winning something. Video Poker at a bar. You will get drinks all night and you pace yourself on $40.

Every hotel/casino has a free show you can watch. Go on the web and google Vegas, you will be amazed at how much more there is other than gambling.

If you are into Buffets, THE BEST buffy in Vegas is at the Red Rock Casino.

Most of all, just have fun.
