| bears. beets. BSG. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | okay. i think FW gunships are the coolest looking things just about ever. honestly, those models are awesome. but if [and this is a huge if] i ever save enough money to get one of them [for an IG army that i may...or may not have at that time] what rules would i use for it? i looked in imperial armor three..well maybe three, the taros campaign one, and i saw a vulture for elysians, and wondered if those rules were applicable to all armies. that would be cool, no ? lol it's 100 points, not counting guns...WOW. TWO super cool looking flying thingies for less than the price of a land raider? it's like Christmas again..lol :] -ant

| sorry if this is off topic but since im considering converting my already impressive ig into eelaysian drop troops would it be possible to use valkyries or vultures as "count as chimeras" as long as i give it weapons that the chimera has and clearly tell my opponents about it?

| the rules for valkyries and vultures are in imperial armour volume one... only certain squads can take a valkyrie as a transport option. though by the looks of things, the elysians get them cheaper too! honestly, it's a bit difficult to pass a valkyrie off as a 'counts as' chimera becuase all it's weapons are either twin-linked or else paired... (and fire as two seperate guns!) for my lodis, i enlisted a friend who helped me scratch build a 40k style blackhawk which at least has the proper weapons on it! (note that only the multi-laser is availiable on the valkyire - everything else is rockets of some kind!) cheers!

| they are pretty cheap for an effective gunship. i dont think you should do that MS. you can use them as transports for storm troopers, but unless you make it as an elite strike force type thing, then it woudnt really make sense. just use the normal rules for them in IA3 for your elysians! |

| another thing to keep in mind; navy flyers are no better shots than their dog soldier counter-parts! avoid taking things like hellstrikes and hunter-killer MISSile racks as those are one-shot deals... as a valkyrie comes with a hull multi-laser and a pair of door-mounted heavy bolters, the only weapon to consider for the hard point is the multiple rocket pods! a vulture is more flexible as it can take a number of twin-linked weapons meaning that BS3 doesn't hurt quite as much! cheers!

| im not using it as a forge world army i just thought that haveing a valkryie with an open hatch and haveing 6 guardsmen with their legs hanging out over the edge or standing inside with a turret multilaser under the nose sorta like the black hawk helicopter. i just thought it might be pretty kick ass

if you can get a ready supply of plasti-card you can build a 'blackhawk' fairly cheap! i also threw in various bits from mainly the land raider, landspeeder and rhino kits plus the various vehicle upgrade sprues to add in interior detail... as for armaments, go for the autocannon "turret" & "hull" heavy bolter. best chimera set-up in my opinion as it's 5 ap4 shots compared to only 3 if you go for the multi-laser/heavy bolter! plus, a valkyrie last i checked, (got mine 3 year ago!) was 250$(can) or so... can't recall the actual price because i got the staff discount on it ![]() cheers!

you got a staff discount? HOWWW? haha did you work there? anyways. you converted a blackhawk? do you, by any chance, have a picture? i know your digicam is messed up, or was at some point, but i'd like to see what you've done for a flying IG thing. :] -ant

![]() as soon as my personal servitor figures out how to charge up the crappy-cam, ("i HATE! technology" take 474,102), i'll definately get some photos up! ![]() basically, it's mainly built from a balsa wood base/frame reinforced and covered in plasti-card and a few gw vehicle bits... the bigest use of a gw kit was half a land speeder to help build the cockpit & pilots and land raider bits including; 2 sets of doors, engine block, baseplate and interior panals... cheers!

Blog Entries: 3 | I almost had a full army of flyers myself.. paid a converter aroudn 60-70$ per navy plane to do some extensive job on the stuff, though he never got the time to complete it so. . . I got a full refund. Darn, it would have been a fun army to pull out haha.

but the main thing to keep in mind is that most of 'em are only BS3 or worse and they can never capture objectives/table quarters! they also generally have thin armour too so provided you're hitting them with rockets and lascannons, they should at least be chased off. or else you can simply take an AA mount and then you're hitting the flyer on your regular BS! cheers1

| well, their pts costs aren't too bad really! (i can take a decent valkyrie for about 170pts) the big thin is that for the most part, they are either way over-priced for what they can do or else seriously under-priced considering the devastation they leave behind! imperial flyers for example, especially the navy fighter planes have a lot of one-shot deal weapons like hunter-killers & hellstrikes. (basically just a fancier named hunter-killer missile!) with only BS3, roughly half your shots miss and when you can only make say 6-8 shots and then you're stuck with say a single lascannon, it's really not worth the big points investment sadly... now orky flyers on the other hand, get a lot of 'guess' range weapons and twin-linked stuff, so their horrid BS2 really isn't that much of a problem! now consider that a fighter bomber is fairly cheaper than the valkyrie or vulture, and you can see why there's all the complaints about flyers in general! admitidly though, the vultre and valkyrie don't have to take any single-shot weapons and they work *much* better if you stick with either twin-linked guns and/or multiple rocket pods! (damn those things are tasty! )cheers!
