What Army/Armies do you collect and play?
Daemonhunters with IG support units. I can do 2-3k points probably.

Why do you play them?
Because their rules fit the fluff of the army I wanted to make best.

How long have you been playing?
Almost 2 years now... omg, has it been that long??

And any other information or pictures you want to provide.
My army is based on Rome, and what their army might have looked like in the 41st millenium. The center of the army is based around a leader (obviously) and a circle of elite gladiators (gray knight termies), and supported by a lot of basic troops (IG troopers with CC weapons and various morale upgrades, because the morale of the romans was one of the reasons they were so successful in combat--they simply never broke), and a few chariots with lascannons et al (sentinels). It's not really tactically sound, but the fluff is just soooo cool, not to mention a few of the models that I converted...

I collect and play Blood Angels primarily. I have dabbled in Chaos both in the form of pure CSM and my current project: Lost and the Damned (see the Angels Apocalypse, both the fluff and army list).

I play BA becuase... well, it went like this. Friends: "(name withheld), you should play 40k." Me:"That's true. I wanna be Space Marines." Friends:"Sigh... ok, but at least no vanilla. Let's see... Dark Angels shoot a lot, Space wolves are CC maniacs, and Blood Angels all have jump packs! Even the dreadnoughts, I think!" Me: "Blood Angels, BLOOD ANGELS!!!!!"
Well the dreadnoughts ended up not having jump packs, and for whatever reason, they're red and not green, which is what I thought they were (I think I may have been stupid back then...), but I still love my BA!
I play pure CSM because of tactical versatiliy. And because I found I can model/paint demonic-lloking, gut-spilling, grotesque-looking CSM pretty well.
I play LatD for versatility, and because I like the image of a few fallen Champions of the Emperor (not necessarily Chaos) leading a tide of smaller men who follow the Space Marines to death. There is also a lot of cool "counts as" stuff you can do. Look at Dave Taylor's Adeptus Mechanicus army!!!

I have been playing for about 4 years.

Go check out the Angels Apocalypse!!!

I play Emperors Children Chaos Space Marine, and am soon to start an Imperial force once I finally *shudder* paint them.

I play Emperors Children because of their fluff (seeking perfection in all things) and because I liked close combat armies, but with the tactical versatility the EC can bring to the table.

I have been playing going on a year now, collecting and a fan of 40K for about 3.

Pictures will come when A. I get a semi-able camera and B. I figure out how to take good pictures of the minis.

Right now I'm mostly playing my Salamanders whom I picked because 6 years ago everyone said they sucked.

Occasionally I'll switch them up with either Legion of the Damned or Ultramarines.

My mostly unplayed armies are my IG (Tallarn FTW!), Necrons, 13th Co., Relictors, and Dark Angels.

As for why I play them -
The Salamanders are Not Crazy. Well, they are in a 'we're space marines' way but they're not as blatantly whacked like The Dark Angels or Iron Hands or, god forbid, Fleshtearers.

The Dark Angels are what I started on back in '87, they totally had the easiest paint scheme (oooh. black! red eyes! Done!)

I've always liked the way the Tallarn looked. and that one Tallarn guy in Final Liberation was all attitude.

Pretty much everything else I started because I was bored with what I had going at the time.

What I have:
40k: DH,WH,BT,Tau, and I painted some of my BT wrong at beginning so they sorta got their own chapters now (didn't paint chapter symbol on yet so I have some leeway on what to call them)
FB: Dark Elves, and a bit of Dark Elves
BFG: tau (no where near complete i have like... 2 ships)

What i play:
Dark elves, and all my 40k armies (though I use my DH and WH less than my tau, and i've only played a couple of games with my BT cause its new. stands currently 750ish points)

Generally I get the ones that i like model- and fluff- and art- wise, and color scheme too.

I collect Space Wolves(7000pts) and Dark Eldar(2000pts).

I play Wolves cos they rock, and I like the viking style background. Dark Eldar, started them cos no-one else I know uses them, and I got hooked.

Been playing for 12yrs, give or take a year when I was ill.

I play Space Marines

I play them because, well, just because really. They have a great appeal for me, and creating a new Chapter has been great fun. Not only painting, but the writing and use of my imagination.

Ive been playing warhammer for years and have an Orcish horde (and a few of uz gobboz) worthy of mention in the Waagh Mound of Fame. Ive collected 40k miniatures and codexs for years but my first 'real' army I have fonally started working on.

I currently play a white space marine chapter that may or may not become white scars. Right now I play them as standard marines at about 1500 pts. I have a cool converted chaplain on bike that rolls with a strong assault squad. The terminator command squad teleports in on the homing device when the time is right. Troops are either big scout squads or 6 small tactical squads for funneling enemy troops. Cheap devastators are a must, love 2-4 missle launchers. Then there are my bikes, un assembled and so far untested.

I neglect to commit to white scars doctrine as there doesnt seem much advantage with this new codex. If my command squad cant be mounted whats the point. Ill watch ravenwing rules and maybe convert my army to that when i get my hands on the new ones.

Collected Armies

Space Marines and Necrons.

Reason for collecting them?

I just love everything about the 40k Universe and the IoM and they embody it completely for me. Great looking models and the whole Emperor and his Primarch's and the Horus Heresy fluff is fantastic.

As for the Necrons, they're one of the few Xenos species that I don't utterly hate (I like Orks as well) and their fluff and background is superb. They're also easy to get painted quickly.

How long have you been in the Hobby?

I have been involved in the Hobby for over 13 years.

Guard all the way because you can personalize them or just copy of another si-fi story line like starshiptroopers or killzone.Plus they have the best tanks in the game if you count the forge world models.

ok i started with Necrons as i like there models but after reading the dex i found them to be too far removed from there fluff ( as i like rp fluff is a major factor for me ) game wise . after all how could they lose if it was not?

so i looked at other codex's and saw the Black Templars now there models are great there fluff is awesome and guess what it fits in to the game style .

fluff versus winning simple, if i can have an army with an identity i can have fun win or lose and after all thats what its all about

how long have i played only 3 months and only 2 games so far but they were fun.

Too far removed from the fluff?!
The Necrons are an integral part of 40k history and pop up in all the major races past at some point.
The War in Heaven is amazing and on a side note, I recommend buying Xenology to get a further idea of just how important the C'tan and Necrons are.

by removed i mean as they play on the table take falling back . why would they do that there machines and cant die also they phase out when they are out numbered, but if i had 1 lith 3 spyders and a full squad of pariahs not to mention the scarabs yet the " necron count is below the phase out ", even if i out number the other guy 3 to 1 i still phase out

now would this happen fluff wise hell no

so like i said i like fluff and i like it to fit my army the necrons fluff cant or they would me imppossible to beat

I agree that game wise, Necrons get their arse completely handed to them by an IG army with a lot of Leman Russ's and Tau etc.
As for being invincible, fluff wise they are because the only sure way to kill them for good is to destroy the Tomb World they get teleported back to when they're damaged so they can't repair themselves again.
