So, what made you decide on making a brass scorpion? Fluff, practical use in gameplay? Brass?

or the fact that it's the only super heavy with a true chaos flavour, ie. doesn't have an imperial version?

you can always still use it as just a plain old defiler in regular 40k games too!

cheers!

And that is probably the only reason I'll build one. Oh, and it's freakishly effective, even when exploding, hehe!

But you can't really use them without opponents consent, can you... VDR isn't tournament legal, so if you want a pretty cool Chaos Super Heavy and also want to be competitive, then the Scorpion is the way to go!

Super Heavies arn't tournament legal either. VDR is up to you and your opponent in every non-controlled situation and is absolutely 100% intended to be used with Apocalypse - the only place you will find a Brass Scorpion (technically at least).

If you're having Apocolypse tournaments in store they are, but I see what you mean. It just can be a right pain having to check if it's ok to use VDR against an unfamiliar opponent- so going with the legal stuff is always easier!

however if you're doing apocalypse, than you pre-arrange everything anyway and know what to expect in advance (to a degree at least)

the Vehicle Design Rules, my good man. Found in UK WD issue 252 and the update is in issue 257, which is important to the design mechanics, and Tau vehicles are added to the mix in issue 272.

EDIT:
Whilst its perfectly liveable to just use the original 252 rules, the slight changes in 257 make it a more rounded system, but you will still need 252 to use the advice in 257.
