Pre Heresy. - 40K Terra

Thinking of doing a small pre-heresy WE army. OR a small Necromunda gang. Me can't decide which.

What would YOU do?

i'm pretty fond of world eaters, but that's just my opinion :] i like their pre-heresy color scheme as well...haha

i'm not sure, but i've never seen necromunda being played here, so i wouldn't go there. i've never seen it before though so it might be cool :]

I think Necromunda would be cool to play, but r4wr89's right, I have only seen two people ever play it. Go with World Eaters. Who doesn't love eating worlds and pre-Heresy marines?

i have to agree with going the pre-heresy world eaters! while necro is fun and all, it just doesn't have the following... (might have something to do with the rule requiring players to drink 6 pints before playing?!!)

personally i dont like world eaters. theyre cheesy and terrible. (glances at signiture) oh yea....i play them....

for a PE world eater army, i would use the blood angel codex. its still an assault army, and is still true to their fluff. the death company is like people whose implants took control of them/made them lose control. the furioso dreadnaught is pretty cool as well.

I've never seen this rule. If it's true then Necro will be the most popular pastime in Ireland.

But you will get more games out of World Eaters. Most 40k players I know never even heard of Necro...sigh

I know. I couldn't believe it either when I asked them about it at first. These people were playing longer than me. They didn't even about know most of the fluff or rules I discussed with them.

I agree, go with the WE. I've seen the staff at my store play Necro once, and that's it. You'll get more games from the WE, and who doesn't love Pre heresy?

You just gotta' love all pre-heresy armies. They offer a lot of modeling oppertuneties and, you get to play the good bad guy.

That's partly why I want to do it. I re-read Galaxy in Flames and after seeing a certain WE captain named Ehren, I was inspired to do something with him and is betrayed brothers. But alas, I also remebered he was killed not much after he appeared.

I'd go for either a pre heresy emperor's children. Or what would be cool would be a transitional Luna Wolves/ Sons of Horus Army where some of them had the luna wolves army whereas others had the sons of hous armor(green trim thing on the book covers). I'd totally make a Loken model, he's a badass.(don't post any spoilers about him i haven't finished galaxy in flames yet)

WE would be great for both and deserve your attentions!!! Do them Now!!!!

besides, you could use the Nec Gang as Cultists some day like I do!!! all my cultists get their work out in the Nec System before they ever make it to 40K, and then it is the vacation spot to return to! you will have the most personalized Cultists around.

Oh and YES you MUST start with 6 pints, even when modeling the gang, anything less would be uncivilized

yeah i would use at least some of the nec models in your army. i know that theres this one gang that wears trench coats and are pale and bald. theres also the goliath gang that can be used as mutants due to their strenght and height. i also like the one gang that has a whole bunch of stubbers. i dont know why but the stubber is like my favorite weapon.

use the current list rules for World Eaters, use the Pre-Heresy scheme, and just keep it light on the Daemonic stuff. if you want, you can use the Daemonic upgrades but model them using loyalist methods of representation, such as terminator honors (the little ribbon thingy) to represent the extra attack and LD bonus that Mark of Khorne gives, a techmarine riding in a vehicle hatch to represent something like parasitic possession and call it something like engineering crew.... you get the point.

call anything "chaosy" any other thing you want, keep it consistent in how you model it so that there is no question of intent/method and you should be fine.

it should be fun

Had I to do it again I would have used a Pre-Heresy theme for my World Eaters Army, so I am jealous of your opportunity.

i love pre-heresy WE almost as much as pre-heresy death guard

the white/blue + studded shoulders looks great.

id use the chaos list to represent the old stuff in the list (lack of plasma cannons etc). paint up raptors as normal WE and you should be good. and, as MarkedByChaos said, keep it light on the daemon stuff!
