| Sergeant ![]() ![]() | I've read in different places that if playing a dedicated EC army, like its your main theme, then it would be worth youre while greatly to simply play actual Noise Marines and not bother with normal CSM with the icon of slaanesh. Whats your views on this? ![]() Personally I'd like to run all Noise marines ^_^ Is the icon for 20pts actually worth it? Giving +1 init? Cheers ^_^

| well, let's look the two options over shall we?! noise marines: pros; - fearless. they'll never run or be pinned so you can always count on them to get where they need to be no matter the situation. - I5 base. icons can be killed off and thus the squad can lose their benifit. noise marines will never suffer from that - great sonic weaponry! sonic weaponry is deadly good! - are a Troops choice and thus count as a scoring unit cons; - expensive pts-wise! a basic noise marine w/sonic blaster is a whopping 25pts! that adds up really quickly meaning you'll have a numerically small force. - upgrades are limited to sonic weaponry... thus, you might not have the tools you need in a pinch - fearless is a double-egded sword and can cause you extra grief if you lose combat... chaos marines: pros; - cheaper than noise marines - even with an icon add into the mix. in a 10-man squad, a chaos marine w/icon of slaanesh will equal roughly 17pts/model meaning you'll have much better numbers on your side! - more varried weapon options! you can better tailor your squad to fullfill a specific role, wheras noise marines are really more or less limited to an anti-troop role. - more options for apsiring champion. combi-weapons com into the mix - a great weapon to pair up with that power fist! ![]() - are a Troops unit and thus again, are a scoring unit! cons; - icon bearer can be killed. if this happens, it's back to plain 'ol I4! - not fearless... thus chaos marines can break and run, even legging it right off the table if enough of them have been killed! - tailoring to a specific role can potentially hurt in the long run... for example, if you kitted out with say plasma guns for an anti-meq squad and come up against hoards of guardsmen or gaunts, that plasma is overkill! so really, both types of units have their place in an emp's emo kids army! - the noise marines are the solid fighters... they'll never run and can hold objectives indefinately untill every last one of them has been killed! - chaos marine squad/s with icon of slaanesh however can provide you with some much needed numbers and back-up support. they can be kitted out to fullfill a specific tactical role which the noise marines can't handel nearly as well! hope this helps! cheers!

| Sergeant ![]() ![]() | Hmmm cheers. SO what about (figureativly speaking) out of "5" squads i run 3 NM's and 2 normal CSM's? Balance it maybe? Also, in terms of elites? Wat would be beneficial? I see alot of people taking termies over Chosen? Or maybe use a chunk of chosen to fulfil youre normal roles and leaving all your troops choice's to NM's? :P Cheers ^_^

| I don't play an EC army, but I do play a jack of all trades chaos army, and I always use a squad of Noise Marines. Sonic weaponry pwns.
