Yes, I've decided to build an Emperor's Children army, and as a base, I'm setting up a 400pts CP force.

2 S7 shots per turn; 10 S5 shots per turn (Including Doom Siren); 9-18 S4 shots per turn.

i think that a larger squad of CSMs with the IoS would serve you better at this level to be honest as those are some expensive squads you have there. but if you specifically want to keep the noise marines, perhaps you could syphon points away from the havoc squad (see below)

if you want to keep the havocs i would also switch the autocannon/heavy bolter ratio. at this level, you won't find too many vehicles, and even the heavy bolter can manage a glancing hit on rhino front armour so if you have 3 of them and one autocannon, chances are you should get the desired result anyway. possibly you could consider a normal CSM squad with a couple of plasma guns?

does the rhino only have the standard TL Bolter, or have you added a pintle mounted version as well? if not, the points are 5 out.

It is kinda a Slaanesh army, so Noise Marines are only fluffy, and with the kind of shots they can get off before an assault, they'll be useful.

I get where you're coming from on the autocannons.

true, but they don't need the sonic blasters to be fluffy. perhaps a couple of bolters instead would reduce the points enough for more bodies.

it is just that you are looking at only 11 models in 400 points (not including the rhino). that is a seriously low number. with a vanilla csm force, you could get around 20 or so, which may not sound a lot but really makes a difference!

also bear in mind that if you really need all those shots to soften up the target before an assault, chances are they are still going to cause enough damage to create problems for you

I've removed the Sonic Blasters and swapped the HB Autocannon ratio, freeing up 55 points (Unless I've mis-counted).

So, I can fit in three more bodies, and upgrade the Twin-Linked bolter on the Rhino to a Havoc Launcher. Any other ideas?

no that should be fine. put one of those models in with the havocs (to gain a 'spare' wound) and the other two with the noise marines.

Thanks Celephus. I've only ever written lists for 1500pts+, so I have to get to grips with 400-1000pts games. I'll modify this for 1000pts at some point, but not now.

no worries icarus. if you are used to the bigger games, it can be hard to strip units down to the basics as you are used to having the points to play with. under 1k particularly the key is more than ever to get numbers on the table and choose your targets wisely.

i would still prefer more models than you have in my own combat patrol, but you shouldn't struggle with the revised list too much
