| at 24 points per model base cost, do you think it is worth it to field the fluffy all sonic weapons army? I am just talking about the infantry/bikes not armor. I love Emperor's Children too death but I am not sure the point are worth the fluff |

| In all honesty, EC is a close combat army. Sonic blasters should be for your shooty squads only. Bolt pistol and CCW for rank and file. Anything else is a points sink, retarded, and warrants a smack with my Lord Commanders Stick. Buawahahahaha. --Ikarus knows the horror of my Lord Commanders stick. Ask him. Blog Entries: 1 | well, like many things in life a little goes a long way. maybe a havoc squad and 1-2 csm squads with sonic weapons is about right, backed up by some possessed and daemonettes for cc punch with a pistol and ccw unit for support. i find a 50/50 mix of sonic and cc equipment is good but thats just me.

Blog Entries: 4 | Id use a few just to keep the feel of the army and give the rest more conventional weaponary. Its like any of the chaos gifts and armaments they are good if you can afford them but they can tie up alot of youre points-I design my army first with just a few choas choices then at the end I spend any remaining points just tweaking and adding flavour to the force. |

| Conscript ![]() | i didnt vote in the poll, cuz my reply doesnt really match anything there: i say theyre very expensive, probably not worth the points... but they look so good! and ive seen armies doing quite well with them: 2 preds, a greater daemon, a daemon prince, 4 tooled up squads with all sonic wepon choices, 1 darmonette squad. |

| I personally believe they are worth every point... i have played with an all sonic weapon army the whole time i have played EC and they haven't failed me... if you are a shooty army guess what? i march across the board at ya and shoot the whole time. if your a close combat army i line up overlapping fire zones and destroy your units methodically and if you still hit me then i usually have initiative and Lucius doesn't hurt either. i take CSM squads of 6 wit 5 sonic blasters and a blast master... the free aspiring champ (he has 1 of the 5 sonic blasters...) has a doom siren and power fist (i know the revamped the codex but i have an old version and will use the rules where it always goes first unless i am in a tournament, then i will still use the power fist because even in the new rules they "Always strike in initiative order" i believe is the wording, which is arguable because on one hand they are initiative 4 but the power fist causes them to strike at initiative 1... i would need to take that to a dice off unless they have answered that already... it isn't very clear to me) i reserve my close combat roles for the chosen who are, you guessed it, 6 man squads (or 5 + Lucius for his bodyguard) all aspiring champs with doom sirens and power fists and bolt pistols and all chosen will get infiltrate and daemonic flight (not the retinue of course but i only give lucius a retinue when i need to eat up points... (the CSM squads even with all 6 troops choices of them are only about 900 points, oh and 108 shots if i stand still... that rivals the equivalent points of imperial guardsmen) thus i have infiltrating troops that will usually get the charge and will be able to take hits and dish em out i used to use a 5 man termie retinue for Lucius but they were really expensive and next to useless... they were terminator aspiring champions with a bunch of useless stuff that added up to 88 points a model for a 1 wound model that took forever to get into combat walking across the board and would usually die to enemy fire. with this new chosen squad i have come up with i believe they stand a much better chance against enemies in that they will usually get into combat before the enemy has a chance to react to their threat

| I agree with the general consensus that sonic blasters are great in moderation but you can say goodbye to a medium/high model count if you use too many. We'll have to see how great everyone thinks they are- go to 'The Battlefield' and vote on which of the armies you think will win between my penitent Knights and Erus' sonic blaster heavy EC force...go now I command you! ![]() |

| Sonic blasters are good, but not on everyone. Take a ratio of 1-1, or 2-1 CC/Sonic shooty squads. Keep them off your aspiring champions. Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Doom Siren. That way, your unit = tactically flexible fire squad/support assault unit. The high points cost eliminates using them to a prolific amount though. Use too much, and the low body count outways the firepower and flexibility. I tend a little on the heavy side to sonic weaponry because I face armies that like to run around a lot (Night Lords and Eldar). So, a strong core of movable firepower is important to keep the squads running the direction I want them to. Also, I tend to find a blastmaster, insted of a fifth sonic blaster, is the set up I roll with. Just that added punch if needed. |

| Trooper ![]() | Yep. I love the emperors children too, and run straight noise squads. I noticed some abilities that they have: 1) The can move n' shoot. So they can move and reinforce, and still put a sizable amount of rounds downrange. This makes them more flexible over other "shooty" infantry types, such as Tau fire warriors. 2) In the defense, they can back up and shoot, allowing them to cut an attack to pieces. Or, if you get them in good cover, switch to heavy mode and you can put even more bullets downrange. Great against hordes. So, I say run them as noise squads.

Blog Entries: 1 | Depends if ya like shooty or stabby. I like stabby. I don't think I would outfit the whole force with sonic weaponry, only 1 or two tac squads, maybe a Dread.

Blog Entries: 1 | Although you can still use the Bolt Pistol and CCW in an assault...so why not take the Sonic Blasters for the run-up?
