Quick question on EC - 40K Terra

Right, under the Emperor's Children entry in the new codex, it says any EC may replace their Bolter with a Sonic Blaster. Does this mean they still have a Bolt Pistol and CCW in addition to the Sonic Blaster? This would make them a great unit for assualt if I'm correct (if I am, I'm gonna build a 12 man squad).

I second that, it only says it replaces his bolter so that means the BP/CC wep stays.

Holy cow, then this makes EC a deadly assault army. I am now SERIOUSLY considering a 12 man tac squad for my Black Legion. Only problem is, Slaanesh's sacred number is 6, which is too low for my tastes, but I can't mount a 12 man squad.

Look to fifth edition to save you... You can have a 12 man foot squad walk, use the 'RUN' rule and still be very effective! And the extra men will ensure, with the added movement of 'RUN!' that you hit the front lines with enough men to hurt.

DK, let me know how many men you put in that squad.. I have some old metla shoulder pads with EC badges i'd be more than honored to donate!

stick with 12 and feth the rhino! you'll get cover saves up the rear now, plus here's the options to consider;
a) sit back for a turn and pump out upto 33 shots from 11 sonic blasters!

b) move towards an objective and still pump out a very respectable 22 shots
c) charge into assault for 33 regular attacks plus whatever shiny stuff you gave the noise champ!
d) don't forget your doom siren!!! ap3 is good honest fun!

now you know why i'm building a squad of these guys!

expensive yes, but it gives you the flexability of a terminator style unit!

Thanks for the info! I haven't seen the 5th ed, but now I am certainly gonna build a 12 man squad of Emperor's Children! Good gosh, they could potentially be the best unit I field! I wanted a little mid-range firepower while still being deadly in close combat (I was think 1kSons, but I just don't care for them, not my style). HAHAHAHA, now my army will be even more vicious! Plus, I really like the way Black Legion EC look. How's that grab ya, LC? A Slaanesh Raptor squad AND a 12 man tac squad! MWWHAHAHAHA!

So how many EC total, or rather, how many shoulder pads do you need?

BTW - You do know that if they are Emperors Children allied to Abbadon, they'd still be purple and gold, yes? Yuo could paint the right shoulder pad black with the Eye, or maybe even get away with the left one only being in it, but they need something! ^_^

I'm going for 12, a champ with Doom Siren and Power Sword. Maybe a Plasma pistol for him too. 11 Sonic Blasters you think? Yes, all my cult troops will be painted in the scheme of their respective legions, except for a shoulder pad. The Raptors I'm not sure about. Maybe the bronze with a little pink and purple? Since they aren't really EC Raptors, just followers of the Prince of Excess.

Aye.... So 18 pads total? I think I also have some nice Empeorors Children'd up Aspiring Champions, if you'd like one? Specialized EC heads, torsos, weaponry, etc...

As far as the raptors.. Paint htem in as many contrasting, random colors as you can. ICe blue, white, liche purple, tentalce pink, etc.. Even snot green... Focus on bright, contrasting (even clashing) colors and try to fit as many on a model as oyu can!

Hmmm. I think maybe 14 pads would do the trick, since I'm leaving one pad Black Legion, but I want the champ with 2 EC pads. Good tips on the Raptors too. I'd love to buy or trade, but I'm flat broke at the moment, and barely have the gas to get out and look for work.

Hmm, actually I wanted to pump my 5 man anti-tank Raptors to six, so yeah, I could use a Raptor backpack for sure. I traded off my bikes to Warchild for some Oblits, I am going for 3 Raptor squads instead. I really can't wait to field that EC tac squad, it will complement my style of play so much. Plus I really don't like the fact my Black Legionnaires don't have the Fearless rule.

I've got the jump pack style backpack for raptors.. So you need 1 of those, 14 shoulder pads, an aspiring champion, and I think i've even got some sonic blasters and a blastmaster if youd like.

I just remembered I have a champ with the EC power sword, but I need a sonic blaster style backpack for him. I might have to change his head though. I don't think I'll need a blastmaster, unless you think I should throw one in there? They are expensive in points, but cause pinning, correct? The other stuff I can use for certain.

I always say toss a blastmaster in... I love them.. Even though in 2-3 years of playing, I've never killed anything with 'em.. But that's just ****** dice rolls... I think I have a doom siren spare, might even have an EC lord shoulder pad/arm with the plasma pistol, always a nice bit.

If I can ever get this confounded piece of junk to work, I will. I created a Meebo account, at the suggestion of Wakim, but I can seem to get the infernal thing to work!
