Default 1850 point RT comin up

So guys, what should I change from this 1850 point RT list?

Demon Prince, Demonic Stature, Strength, Mutation, Armor, Aura, Essence, Resilience, 2 cc weapons, Master Crafted, Spiky Bits, 197 points

Greater Demon, Wind of Chaos, Bolt of Change, Familiar, 195 points

8 Thousand Sons, Icon, 192 points
Aspiring Champ, Demonic Chains

I tend to not like princes in a shooty army like this. I would instead hide him amongst some rubric terminators, but it isn't a bad set up. I would loose the master crafting on the CC weapons and get him a Lance or suitable daemon weapon from the Thousands Son armory.

Whoa.. Whoa.. Waaaaay too many pts on that Champion. Take off master crafting the pistol, the warp focus, the familiar, maybe the twisting path (not sure what it does) and strength/mutation. Aspiring Champions should not, IMO, be suped up too much. Hell. With the points you save on the second unit, you could damned near field another squad of bodies or some such.

Not sure of the flames, put a tri-lascannon set up is never my fav. I prefer heavy bolter sponsons, and parasitic possession is not really that nessecary is it?

Overall, with my comments in red, not a bad list, but a bit pts. happy on the squads, IMO. At this pts value of a game, you are likely to be swallowed alive by bodies.

hmmm I dunno about the rhinos ... they seem points heavy ... but then again I am a vehicle hater anyway ... and transport for Sons .. I dunno ..of course you want to get into 24 inch range but close too fast and you end up in close combat ... not so much a strength of a Sons army

I tend to push towards a defiler .. I like it's long range hitting power as a balance to the Sons shorter range massed firepower .. although I do like the pred to help thin out any opposing vehicles .. and I disagree on the heavy bolter swap out ..I rather like the lascannons .. again ..helps thin the vehicles .. the sons will thin out the troops when they get in range but guys with bolters are hard pressed to stop a well armored vehicle.. which is of course precisely what multiple lascannons are good for

another personal choice ... not a big fan of greater demons .. you gotta sacrifice a fig to get a fig ... AND it is luck of the roll what turn you get it on .. get it too late it never kills enough to pay for itself

I love the Sons but I think at 1850 points that a fig heavy player is going to flood you

Try running one like this:

Mark of tzeentch, Dreadaxe, Wind of Chaos, Spiky Bits, Close COmbat Weapon, Daemonic (stature, strength, aura, flight and essence or mutation)

Works absolute miracles for me.

Drop the familiar - I don't think he can have it. And I hope you're making Bolt of Change your "free" psychic power and taking wind of chaos for the lesser points cost...

Whooooa. Slow down.
Drop the Focus, Familiar and TTP.
Pick up: None.
Drop: Daemonic Strength and Power Weapon.
Pick up: Power Fist.

Why? The power fist will work better vs. vehicles. Plus, all that Psychic potential... 104 points for a model not even close to as good as your Daemon Prince. My Champions have Mutation, Wind of Chaos, Power Fist, Bolt Pistol, and they do massive damage in games.

Drop the Parasitic possession, too many points. Warp Flame might also be too much. You only want this thing as a transport, I try to keep mine at 58 points.

You don't have enough units.

In my 1,000 points, I have three units and a Daemon Prince. In 1500 points, I have four units, a predator, a Daemon Prince.

In 1850 points, I have five units, a Daemon Prince and a Defiler. Plus some extra goodies to fill up the remaining points left over.

Taking two units and a unit of Daemons isn't enough models IMO, and taking the Lord of Change is a risk.

You could also take some Rubric Terminators - for 426 points, you get a unit like this:

Thousand Sons Unit Theta (Terminators)
9 x Rubrics w/ Mark of tzeentch; Terminator Armour
Champion w/ Power Weapon; Chainfist; Wind of Chaos; Daemonic Mutation
8 x Rubrics w/ Combi-bolters; Power Weapons


Works a treat.
