So I'm getting my younger brother in 40k and he wants to play Thousand Sons an I being a loyal guard & Ork player dont know too much about them. So heres a few things I had questions about while I was looking through the Codex...

1. Can thousand sons marines take anything besides bolters?
2. Do i need to pay 10pts for the mark of Tzeetch for all my marines or just the aspiring champion?
3. In a 400pt combat patrol, do I need to take an HQ choice with the Mark of Tzeetch? I may have misread but I think I saw something about regular Marines counting as elites if they are not led by a character who bears the same mark. Also a sample 400pt list would be appreciated so that I can help get his army started.

Aspiring Champions, and anyone else who is a sorcerer, may take any weapons available to them. Regular marines, however, are stuck with bolters [a bit silly. they should be able to have plasma guns.]

Everyone in the squad has it. Also, remember that the Aspiring Champion does NOT gain Daemonic Essence, he gets the Sorcerer ability. Only the Rubrics get the extra wound.

Lieutenant, Mark of tzeentch, Bolt of Change, Daemonic Talons. Total cost: 90 points. Rending with 4 attacks, and can fire off a near-lascannon strength shot at BS 5 every turn.

Useful, eh?

thanks for all the help. Now I've gotta put down this Codex because its making me want to start up a Night Lords army! and I dont think I could ever forgive myself if I started a Chaos army

than your on the right track. Starting a chaos army should never involve forgiveness! keep up the good work!
