I know this is a dumb question, but how do force weapons work? I don't have the rulebook (usally just borrow one from my best friend), and I've never played anything but Chaos. I plan on building a squad of 1k Sons for my Black Legion, so any tips on tactics would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since I don't think I'm allowed to give away the rules here, you might have to borrow your friend's rulebook and look it up.

Force Weapons on Aspiring Champions is a VERY powerful thing. Most of my opponents have run away from my Daemon prince only to be faced with a force weapon which destroyed their commander. It pretty much gives you new found power in your Thousand Sons squads.

Without giving away any specifics, force weapons allow you to kill mutli-wound models in a single blow.

so what kind of tactica have you found for making 1000s killer with the new rules.

i'm kinda fond of the bike squad with icon of tzeentch turbo boosting to get an unheard of invul save and then at begining of t2 "beakoning" for the t-sorcerer or term squad that comes in and blasts away.

also putting 1 sorcer on a bike which does kind of the same thing but you can run him in a different direction.

worked well for me so far but i've only played 1 game with 1000sons using the new rules.

I use the sons to march up the table with there 24" range ap 3 bolters and 4+ inv save they take and give out punishment. I also now use lots of raptors

actually the decision isn't conclusive on this yet (assuming you mean 2+ invulnerable).

both i and Krom spoke with Alessio at gamesday and whilst he was aware of the problem, neither he nor Gav were decided on whether they get the +1 in this case, but said that an FAQ would follow.

aww man, i hope they dont nix that. its not our fault they didnt think of that! besides if they change that it doesn't affect turbo boosting (which now gives the unit a invul save) then they should need to re write how it can do the same for everyone except for bikes turbo boosting. its not like its a permament 2+ like an lord/sorc/1000son's perm 4+, it goes away at the begining of the next turn so you cant have it in hth unless someone assaults you before your next turn and if they do that then they deserve every bit of anquish when you save every flippin thing!!!

besides you still have units out there that ignore invul saves so it still balances out. that and that ability ain't cheap. for a large unit it is but most bike units are 3-5 models
sheesh. just like gw to talk about taking away an ability because they didnt do a good enough job in the first place. frickin lazy bums...

So would it be legal if you had a Chaos sorcerer with a jump pack? What about a bike? They could still have a force weapon right? Maybe a Daemon weapon instead?

Ok, what I think would be the best set up for your sorceror lord in a thousand sons army would be this:

Sorceror Lord; Mar of Tzeentch, Force Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Disc of Tzeentch (demonic steed), Warptime, Wind of Chaos

I know he weighs in at a hefty 215 points, but this guy is a combat monster! 6 attacks on the charge with a Force Weapon! Plus he moves 12, so he can get anywhere on the field in a hurry! Stick him in a raptor squad and watch your opponent cry when they tear through a unit a turn!

sorcerers are hq choices now so they get some of the most choices for equipment however the only thing they cant have is a deamon weapon.

but jp, bikes and deamonic steeds are still options.


oh and i know this is kinda blasphemy but what is really awesome is having 2 sorceres. tool 1 tzeentch and the other slanesh with the lash of submission.

theres nothing like seeing an sm player's face as he realizes you just forced his dev squad out of cover then blasted them with ap3 bolters that they dont get a save on.......

He isnt invincible, remember that a model with a psychic hood and Leadership 10 will really put a hinderance on his effectiveness.

here's the real kicker. ahriman is a bada but what is a real kick in the groin is that he (as one of the most powerful psychers in the game) still has to take a psych test while typhus does not.....hmm seem a bit off to anyone else??


and psychic hood give an opposing psycher a chance to null a psychic power. not fun if you use quite few powers.

Thank you! You just reminded me that I SHOULD get a chaos socorcer for my army... possibly replacing my orginal intention of having a Chaos Lord...
