Default Army Lists

I have been playing Blood Angels for about 4 years now, and I can never seem to beat my friends' armies often enough. They have all been playing longer, but still. Recently I have begun to experiment with min/maxing and putting heavy weapons in my tactical squads and using them as mini devastators, so I can shoot different targets if I need to. My army list usually tend to consist of:

Chaplain w/ jump pack (+DC)

furioso dreadnought

x4 5-trooper squads of tactical marines, 2 squads with a missile launcher

8-man assault squad

land speeder tornado (HB + AC)

preadator annihilator w/ lascannon sponsons

dreadnought (often fitted w/ TL-Lascannon and Missile launcher)

This is usually around 1500 pts (I think...)

What has worked for you other Blood Angels players?

I'm not the usual fan of MIN/MAXing squads, as it seems to be more of a waste in my opinion, because if you get shot up, you are going to die easy, not to also mention the numbers that will go into DC. But ofcourse if you are far away, you might live... but I do not support that idea.

Your overall list looks tooled to basically handle a bunch of situations, which isn't bad at all. I am more accustomed to a list that is more tooled up against an enemy, but thats me. Furiouso, gives me mixed thoughts sometimes. For anti tank I would rather put out the heavy support drednought outfit.

Otherwise, the list isn't so much bad, it could be played, those are just my suggestions

Well, I actually usually don't use the Furioso just because enemies can take out other units, and then fell the Dread before it hits their lines. But when I have most of my armour on the table, I usually put that out, too as another target. And if they wait too long, it's on them and unstoppable!

I have trouble against Tyranids. I can never seem to beat them. I think this is due to the fact that Blood Angels are a close combat army, yet Tyranids are better at it, so we have to rely more than usual on shooting, and in a CC army, that's difficult. Has anyone come up with an effective unit or strategy for dealing with the Devourer?

Hmm what does your Tyranid players use in their army? I am not use to playing against them, but maybe I could have an idea

Ofcourse whirlwinds works some wonders, or some more landspeeders cuts them down.

Hm... I have never tried a Whirlwind...

He usually uses (1500) two Hive Tyrants: one that walks, one that flies. And there are usually about a good 16 gaunts, and then loads of genestealers. There are also usually three Zoanthropes with Warp Blast, and one of the tyrants will usually have Warp Blast. There is the occasional Lictor or two.

I haven't played him in a bit, but he now also has a Carnifex... which I think he's taken to using...
