Decisions... Decisions...

Ok, as everyone knows I love Blood Angels. I have always wanted to make a pre-heresy Company, and model or have Sanguinius modeled for me and everything for them. However... My question is.... Should I use the current codex or the traits system.. My reasoning is that the trauma of the Chapter after Sanguius died horribly altered their organization, tactics, and everything.

So my question is, what do you all think? Codex BA or traits for a pre-heresy company. This project is more for modeling and fluff than a killer game army though, so keep that in mind as well!

no black rage or red thirst before the heresy so no death company, o id say go for traits ad make them as similar to BA's using the traits

definatly go down the traits road. it would be weird seeing death company in a pre heresy ba force.

So then... After talking to the Killer, and our Beloved Emperor.. I have came down to these traits!

Blessed Be The Warriors (Assaults can be taken as elites, but must eb given furious assault at +X pts per model)
No Mercy, No Respite (Any Tactical or Assault squad may take Furious Charge rule for +x pts.)
Eye To Eye(o-1 limit on bikes, attack bike, or land speeder units)

Sound good?

Edit: Also, thanks to DC I have some rumored contents for the GW upcoming release of the SM Battle Company box, but does anyone else have their own rumors or such?

them traits look good to me but (I'm too lazy to check) don't you need a minor drawlbackk too

yea i was gonna suggest those exact traits, they seem to be most like them...and possibly eye to eye for the major drawback ? but yea those traits look good to me. furious assault seems fitting without having to include the black rage deal..

good luck :] and yeai 'd be interested in those rumors too, if anyone's got some ? perhaps the forthcoming chaos battleset is a sort of clue, sans defiler and possessed and with a LR and scouts or something instead, perhaps ?

Not, that is only if you take them from two different selections, with only one selection (Ster or Zealous) drawn form, I only need a major.

*slams a powerfist through the teeth of killer and pulls out a very wet BrainDeleted* hmm..... a pre heresy BA? could be fun. i wonder though if they have always been the more assault oriented space marines they are now. you might want to create more of a steady mix with a severe lack of heavy weapons and a few bolter squads.

however your main army should be the assault squad and maybe a baal predator.

Baal predator was post-heresy. And I will be taking around a minimum of 4, max of 6 assault squads at 10 man strong.

wow thats gonna get expensive in points and money. hmm have you looked at the horus heresy collectors view book? it has a lot of data about the horus heresy and all the legions during that time as well as ALOT of artwork.

I have access to all 4 special editions of the book and damned near have them memorized, lol. I need to go back and dig up Blood Angels info though.

now erus, what major drawback did you choose ? i don't know if i missed where that was mentioned. i like the idea of a bunch of assault marines thoug...that would be sweet.. :]

Eye to Eye, which limits bikers, landspeeders, attack bikers, etc...

Not really much on the BA using them, unless I missed something?

hmmm....i would have actually chosen the trait bring the fight to the enemy, which lets you give tac squads CC weapons, but as you have 4 assualt squads it doesnt matter
some predetors with HB sponsons and lascannon turret would be good for fire support mixed with 2-3 tac squads w/missle launchers.

That was my idea so far, as well as a dev squad or so with missile launchers. But again, sadly the makeup of this project is determined by the as of yet unreleased Battle Co. Box.
