Default NEW Blood Angels (3K Worth)

Well, got the white dwarf in hand and here it is... My new blood angels list.. Any opinions or suggestions?


HQ

Chaplain Galad (Counts as Chaplain Lemartes): 125 pts.
Frag, Krak(included in base), Bolt Pistol, Crozius Arcanum, Rosarius, Death Mask, Jump pack

Captain Toram, Herald of Blood: 150 pts.
Lightning Claws, Frag & Krak(included in base), Iron Halo (included), Jump Pack.

Honor Guard: 240 pts. (these don't attach to an I.C. but do the 'does not take up FOC slot but counts as' thing)
Veteran: Frag & Krak (base), bolt pistol, power weapon
Sanguinary Priest: Exsanguinator, Bolt Pistol, CCW, frag & krak (base)
Standard Bearer:Company Standard, Bolt Pistol, CCW, Frag & Krak (base)
Company Champion (ran out of useful pts., so made him): Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon, Combat Shield, Frag & Krak
Veteran Sergeant: Powerfist, Bolt Pistol, Frag & Krak



ELITES

Death Company (same slot issue as Honor Guard): 110 pts.
Death Company Marine(10x): Frag & Krak, Bolt Pistol & CCW, Jump Pack
these guys do have feel no pain, and all attacks made are rending, as well as fearless! and 8 of them were free! (you get one per type of unit you take)

1st Alta Terminator Squad: 200 pts.
Terminator(2x): Thunder Hammer & Stormshield
Terminator(3x): Lightning Claws

Alacar, the Grail Bearer: 195 pts.
2 Dreadnought CCW (meltagun and heavy flamer), Death Company Dreadnought(+d3 attacks, woot!), Drop Pod, Smoke Launchers, Searchlight, Extra Armor

2nd Varoni Scout Squad: 210 pts.
Scout(8x): Bolt Pistol, Sniper rifle, frag & krak grenades. (same issue as w/ devs below)
Scout: Missile Launcher, Bolt Pistol, Frag & Krak
Sergeant: Sniper Rifle, Bolt Pistol, Frag & Krak



TROOPS

3rd Osini & 5th Coras Assault Squads: 275 pts
Sergeant: Power Fist, Bolt Pistol, Jump Pack, Frag & Krak, Jump Pack
Assault Marine(9x): Frag & Krak, Bolt Pistol & CCW

4th Herisai, 6th Donae, 7th Arano Assault Squads: 265 pts
Sergeant: Power weapon, Bolt Pistol, Jump Pack, Frag & Krak, Jump Pack
Assault Marine(9x): Frag & Krak, Bolt Pistol & CCW



HEAVY SUPPORT

8th Marano Devastator Squad: 285 pts.
Devastator(4x): Missile Launcher, Bolt Pistol, Frag & Krak. (Codex in WD states that up to 4 may replace their BOLTER or CHAINSWORD for the heavies, and the profile shows them with pistols and a bolter OR chainsword.. So why not?)
Devastator(5x): Bolt Pistol, Bolter, Frag & Krak
Sergeant: Power Weapon, Bolt Pistol, Frag & Krak

Baal Predator:140 pts.
Twin-Linked Assault cannon, Heavy Bolter Sponsons, Extra Armor, Smoke Launchers , Searchlight

looks good man.
fast, heavy CC army, as BA should be. anti-tank might be an issue though, but the baal pred, devvies, and dreadnaught might be enough.

I'm contemplating removing a squad of assaults marines for a melta-missile combat squad combo, mounted in something maybe.

I agree with Dan- its an evil army for a vanilla SM army or CSM (rotten vanilla?) to face as it negates their balanced forces if you close quick enough...as you probably will with so many jump packs.
But against a mechanised army, like a 'Fish heavy Tau army, and you'l begin to struggle as their speed will pretty much be comparable to your own- take down your devastators and then all they really have to do is dance round your force killing it a squad at a time.

Also with so many Jump Packs the army is quite points heavy and that'll hurt against hordes of orks/tyranids- the orks in particular who can kill your expenive marines with their choppas more easily than gaunts- unless you manage to position your force to slip in and assassinate vulnerable sections of the enemy force one...at...a...time.

All in all I think its a great force and I'd love to see your opponent's face when you slam it on the table but its very much an obvious force and that'll be to your detriment after your friends get wise to the exploitable weakness' in a (seemingly) one trick army.

* I changed one assault squad to dev, downgraded my master and switched the Death Co. dread to a regular one with m.l. and ass can... Switched around termie squadAny better boyos?

Much; those 2 devastator squads mean your opponent wont really have much place to go. With the 48" coverage from 10 missile launchers and the closer range firepower of the assault cannons mean that while you wont be able to out gun a dedicated shooting army you should be able to quickly eliminate those enemy units that would give your assault forces the most trouble.

And considering you still have 40 assault marine, 10 DC, 5 honour guard, and 2 killer HQs your cc power is daunting.

I have been looking around at HQ choices... And am thinking of trying to drop my Captain and squeeze in points for Mephiston, as he would be really a very effective commander, or possibly just a regular librarian. If anyone else has the codex and could help, i'd appreciate it. If not, i'll be sepnding some time typing it up soon so you guys can know the deal on the Sons of Sanguinius!
