Just got my Wolves in the mail - 40K Terra

wahoo Ebay ... just picked up 20 blood claws, 10 grey hunters, 1 terminator, 1 Dreadnaught, and a bike .. dirt cheap

also have a standard bearer on the way ..

and of course a codex...

I am wondering what else I should pick up to help flesh these boys out ..I know I'll need a command unit of some sort ..and I'll probably sell off the bike..I hate bikes.. either that or do another orc bike conversion ...

I'm thinking another dread and some terminators to make the single into a full unit...

also not sure whether I want to go mainstream Wolves or 13th company

any input appreciated .. please include the logic behind the reasoning of your suggestions .. Thanks

Well, you can make he Dreadnought Venerable and make that your HQ if you so choose. I would definitely get more Terminators, unless you're planning on having the one you have be your HQ choice. You'll probably need two HQs, actually, because you'll probably have about 1500 points soon. And if you don't want to use the Dread as HQ, then I think a Wolf Priest would be a good idea.

I have never used bikes, myself, so I don't have an opinion on them, but if it's only 1 and you don't like them, selling is not a bad idea.

I think you need something fast, though, so a Blood Claw biker pack might be just the thing.

I also think some heavy support is in order. Either Long Fangs or a predator. Predator might be better just so you have some more armour.

I'd always suggest Long Fangs, because I think they can divide their fire or some such? Also, a blood claw pack with jumpacks is vicious. Although I just tend to go for assault marines over bikers, not paticular for any reason I just do. You may want to check around, because I think the 'wolves are next due for a Codex re-vamp Imperial wise (which would mean sometime early next year?)? Am I correct in this?

rrrggghh ... yeah long fangs ..those were included... sorry forgot them was in the middle of painting the rest (the long fangs were already fully painted) I have a choice of anything but A/C ... and have a bunch of missile goobs from my own chapter in progress ...

I'm looking at a second dread .. may make one venerable haven't decided yet but don't want him as the main HQ choice ..

waiting for my codex to see what looks good for a primary HQ ..

will definitely have more termis ..one way or the other since I have some of the lame old school plastic one piece termis sitting around

don't know what my points will look like yet since I'm lacking the codex but I have zero doubts I can make 1500 pts .. one way or the other ...

might mix in some old plastic one piece marines to fill out a second squad of grey hunters...

but either way thanks for the input so far ... I've never fielded a marine army before .. just fought a buttload of them ... basically this army kinda dropped in my lap while I was hunting for figs for my own chapter .. and after reading the Ragnar books the Wolves kind of appeal to my savage spirit.

*mournful sigh*..this'll make my fourth army ... I see plasma selling in my future

in terms of pred vs long fangs, i'd also go for long fangs: more wounds=more heavy weapons that don't die off...this is the logic behind my all infantry model marine army as well. i think a dread as an HQ would be interesting, but that's up to you...and if you have bikes and only have like 1 or 2, yea sell them off :]
