It seems you`re on the right track.

I`d stay away from a dread at first but that`s just me.

Long Fangs are a must though!

Get one squad up as soon as posible

when my son was born i panicked and had a army fire sale sold all 3 of my huge armies for dirt cheap i kept a few items "for future use"
3 SW dreads, pred, 2 rhinos, and a Leman Russ Exterminator
now im working on #2 a SW themed army
The ven dread is a must in a SW army it can be an hq or Elite plus way better weapon options than a reg dread
i got the battle force also and 2 more boxes of each greys and BCs
i recently bought a "new" Termi squad for conversion purposes
and i got a LRcrusader that need to be refurbished from a buddy for $10 but
so what im saying is get more men and a few rhinos
maybe some bikes or speeders for the flanks
and Armour
really what i do is write a list in incriments and work towards those steps
know what i mean?
500 pts buy those
1000 pts buy those
so on and so on

Yep same one.Always liked how back in RT days the dreads had two hieghts.Plus its a real easy conv and makes it possible to give dreads more movement.

Burn wakim burn...

Ultramar... stay away from the long fangs until you have a good solid base.

As the guys above have said a dread is a must... But one of the next steps has gotta be wolf scouts. These guys are fantastic. Even if the do nothing else, they spread fear into your opponent.

Probably another pack of grey hunters would help and a rhino for them.

A pred... of course.

Don't forget some HQs as well as when you build the force you'll need these due to the compulsory need to have one for every 750pts.

I'm not to bothered by them, I dont think they are as effective against Eldar. The most success you have with them is against Tau and I think Drax's lady boys (SoB).

But yes they are a pain to deal with because you have to commit a squad or two to get rid of them as they appear at the most annoying times. I would think they are a must though.

OK...Hunters are still mandatory as well...you have to have at least one squad in your army...I'ld stick to two for the start and one squad of Claws...Venerable Dread is a must...and so is a Pred or Russ...I'ld leave off the Long Fangs till you have a bit more support...and when you do get them include a Razorback for them...I think two more bikes for that squad and then get Wolf Gaurd leaders in all your squads...it all depends on what type of play you wanna follow or if you just wanna build a well rounded force for all occaisions

blood claws are cool indeed, the extra attack makes them brutal on the charge and having access to a couple of power weapons or fists is useful too. definatly get a few more bikes!
