Blog Entries: 1  |  SW, for a Chaos player? Hey guys, I am thinking of starting a SW army as soon as I'm done with my Black Legion (which will take a few months with all the new stuff), and I want an Imperial army. I probably won't play with it much, but I want to build it for my brother who is getting very interested in 40k, but doesn't want to build an army. He likes the SW and the Black Templar, and I want to know what are some of the strengths and weaknesses of SW.

Blog Entries: 1 | yes! everyone loves the wolves!! from what i understand (just getting into sw myself) they are the best all rounders you can get. they can shoot as well as any other sm force but are better at combat due to the true grit and counter attack rules. wolf pack or erak grimnir would be able to tell you more if you can get their attention.

   | Did someone call my name?......LMAO Yes wolves are, IMHO, the best all arounders you can get...they are devastating at cc, and with split fire for your Long fangs, not to mention that squads can have an assault weapon each...they make for one heck of a shooty army...the options are endless, and as Erus can attest...I am exploring all of them with my SW Armored Column of Doom...HEHEHE  Feel free to ask me anything you want to know about my beloved Sons of Russ...

| alright i have a question. who is the god like 2nd ed. special character Space Wolf that had his own battle of Thermaplyie in which his company was doing a tactical withdrawal from a great Waaagh and when a land raider broke down he dragged it and plugged up a canyon. After this he and his squad of terminators went spartan and held the orks back until they will all killed. When his brothers went back for them they found mountians of dead orks and found their brother on a throne of orks. The orks respected this warrior so much they built him a throne of their own kin due to his warrior prowess. I ask you who was this great warrior! |

Blog Entries: 1 | that would be wolf guard ranulf, described as being so large that he made other marines look like normal humans when stood next to him and strong enough to flip a rhino out of his way. his armout is on display at the fang for all the young cubs to marvel at.

| Did someone call me or is the fenrisen ale just getting to me. Ok I do not know that much about black templars but I do know a bit. Both armies are combat engenired black templars more so. Black templars can get there quickly as if you shoot at them they get to move forward. Howver I don't see them being a very shooty army as you could just shoot there devastators and then they cant fire. So I am saying strength is getting there fast you have to take down the one unit and not split your fire or you will have many squads on you soon. However I am guessing there weakness is not very shooty and can be easily dragged off from main line as if thye are shot at they have to move to closest enemy so a cheap ork buggy or something near by could get there Large squads away from the fight. Now on to the wolves. The wolves are probably the most interesting SM army to choose as they are the most different. Now SW have some really neat rules for combat but they also have some good back up fire capabilities. With the Lemun Russ Exterminator which is the best anti personal weapon and can only be chosen by SW. Or with the SW only ability to split fire of there long fangs meaning the two heavy bolters can fire at infantry and the two Anti Tank weapons can fire at vehicles or elite units. We also have the awesome unit Blood claws which is the equivlant in rank as a SM scout. They get 4 attacks on the charge and with power fists are awesome. We also have some cool rules for our venerable drednaught making enemy re roll on the damage chart when attacking it re rolling first turn and can be HQ. We have some awesome disruption troops in the form of our wolf scouts They basically come on behind the enemy lines with melta bombs and destroying any fire support the enemy might have. Strengths are we have some really cool and nifty rules and units. Weaknesses are probably the fact that we have to have a HQ every 750 points. So there you go. I say choose the SW's as they seem to be a bit more all arounder and have some awesome fluff. Hello we are the strongest and biggest chapter. We have the 13th company which just show our strength and size. This is an old company so is the size of a chapter. To show there strength they have been in the Eye of Terror basically non top since Horus Hersey or well after awhile. Also we are basically Viking-Roman mytholgy. With how our primarch was like romulus and remus. More vikign though with the wolf time reffering to the end of the world which the vikings believed was a massive attle were no one surrived. Also were wolfy

| Well, I have looked at the Black Templars codex, and helped my friend build a decent 1000pt and 1500pt army with it, and I'll say this. Black Templars (BT) are the most 2 demisional army I have ever seen (and I've seen enough to know that they are one of the few). More or less, because of the Vow system and righteous zeal, they are forced to ONLY assault. Sure, maybe 1 or 2 support squads or a pred or something, but other than that... nope, its all about the assault. From what Wolf Pack and Lord Erik Grimnar is saying, wolves are more balanced. With this in mind (and because they rock) I'd go for the wolves.

Specilised units Long fangs heavy support fire can split there fire Bloodclaws +2 attack on charge are assaulty but have ws 3. Grey hunters average marine but also have the +1 for two weapons. All I can think of really what you mean by specilised.
