| Corporal ![]() | so now that we know the rules for deathwing squads what are the ideal setups for the new squads>? I'm thinking that 3 lightning claws, 1 ass-can, and 1 thunderhammer seems almost ideal. the ass-can is often the only thing that matters anyway... and you can shoot alot of junk. 4 asscan shots, and when you get into combat 9 str 4 rerolling pw attacks, 2 str 8 power weapon attacks, 2 str 8 pw attacks that stuns vehicles and other things... or maybe just 4 claws and ass-can w/chainfist? or the old salamander set up Heavy flamer to clear troops, then TH's to bust tanks. Whats everyone else think?

| Well, hardly anybody, but I'd go for something like 2 lightning claws, one Ass. Cannon with Chainfist and one thunderhamer with a regular sargent. (SB and Power WEapon). Much as I like lightning claws, I like having a few more shots in the squad. Genestealers must be dosed with large amounts of bolter fire. |

Then there are the wound-re-rolling LC's and the double-strength powerfist (I don't know if a chainfist are necessary unless you're facing guard) and thunderhammer to bust the heavy stuff. Does a sergeant come seperately or is he included in the squad?

| I'm a thunder hammer fiend myself, so I would probbaly go with that over a chainfist most of the time. Overall, your original setup works grand. Good at covering all bases in minimal steps and points investures, which is the pitfall of more marine armies than I can count! With the new Deathwing rules though, how you deploy and what you deep strike first from the squad will be almost important as the makeup of the Deathwing squad itself. Keep that in mind, and in that case I would unload your ass-can, thunder hammer, and then one of whatever else you want, lightning claws being my suggestion(If my math is right, if not an only 2 can be struck in, l. claws and ass can). Pop it right next to a vunerable bit of armor of squad of peskies (Scouts especially hate ass-cans). Shoot 'em up and have the other marines hold back to repel any threats. |
