Default Criticism please

So I haven't played 40k in years, and I've gotten rid of all my models and just played Flames of War. Anyrate, there's now a new hobby store in my area that plays both FoW and 40k very frequently, and they've already got a half-million space marine/ chaos players so I figured I'd rebuild my beloved Eldar. Now GW has rewritten the rules on me and I don't know what to take for my 1000pt army. Anyrate here's the rough draft so far. If anyone could give some advice that would be awesome. The list has killing marines in mind since they will be my main opponent.

Autarch- powerweapon - 80pts (leads either banshees are Dire Avengers)

Dire Avengers x8 one is an exarch w/ powerweapon and shimmer shield
-wave serpent w/ brightlances -258pts

Guardians x13 with 1 warlock with conceal and a starcannon -169pts

Banshees x8 one is an exarch with an executionor
-wave serpent w/ brightlances -285pts

Rangers x5 - 95pts (or perhaps 5 scorpions?)

Fire Prism- 115pts

Any and all advice is welcome!
Thanks guys!

like the minimum kit on this guy, cheap yet effective

Dire Avengers x8 one is an exarch w/ powerweapon and shimmer shield
-wave serpent w/ brightlances -258pts

get blade storm for these guys! and think about swapping the pw+ss for dual shuricats on the exarch. in this config you'd get 26 shots in one turn of shooting

Guardians x13 with 1 warlock with conceal and a starcannon -169pts

nifty, no problems here

Banshees x8 one is an exarch with an executionor
-wave serpent w/ brightlances -285pts

mirror swords are better i think, even against marines. moe dice rolled = more dead marines

Rangers x5 - 95pts (or perhaps 5 scorpions?)

if you can find the points to up these guys to pathfinders then do it. you won't regret it at all. stick 'em in hard cover and they'll be almost inpossible to shift, trust me, i've tries

Fire Prism- 115pts

yeah, why not

Any and all advice is welcome!
Thanks guys!
welcome back to the game dude ------^ made some observations, nothing major but applied the accepted wisdom.

hmmmm I just did the math on those mirror swords and on average it does lead to more marines dead. Cheaper and more effective. Good call. Thanks.

only as unit champs for guardians or wraith guard. for a unit of them you heve to take them as a retinue for a farseer.

ok good, just making sure i wasn't breaking the rules with the warlock protecting my gun platform. I was wondering, if I got rid of the fire prism, is there anything else that could serve as longer lasting fire support w/o being overly expensive?

dark reapers are pertty good at messing up marines but pretty expensive too. warwalkers are probably a good bet as they can have good weapon configs.

Though be aware of there weakeness's, Dark Reapers are very static, this can be a disadvantage if you deploy them badly so they cant shoot, or they are to exposed, but when deployed well they are solid!

War Walkers are weak that is there main weakness as it were, but they will wreak havoc at the same time, not a bad option for there points!

I personally would save the Fire Prism for a higher pointage, but that's personal taste as I think they are a lot more useful in two's. Your list is balanced and solid with only thing worth changing deperately is rangers to pathfinders as has been said! Good luck!!

i thought whilst you had to take a farseer to gain access to a squad, they were not a retinue and could act as a squad in their own right?

I was considering the guardians and if they'd be worth their points. On one hand they'll soak up damage while hunting down pesky lascannon squads. On the other, the chances of them killing enough marines to make up for their points seems limited. Any thoughts?

Oh and as far as the warlock retinue goes. I'm pretty sure they and the farseer count as a single squad. Much like a command squad of marine veterans surrounding a chaplain.

you are correct on the warlocks as they are an add on to a farseer, and dont underestimate the power of that starcannon on grav platform. remember it counts as an assualt weapon so it can move AND shoot!

This is true. But on average it'll hit and kill 4-5 marines in six turns. That's only about 75pts from a 169pt squad. If the squad assaults or gets close enough to unload their shuricats, the marines will probably butcher them with bolter fire and hth. Anyrate, I was wondering if a harlequin troop, a striking scorpion squad, or another dire avenger squad might be a better choice?

on a higher point game, I have been dabbling with an Avatar with my Guardians, Starcannon, and conceal, that is actually a suprisingly cracking combo, keep charging forward, shuris blazing, assaulting, and you'll never fall back, lovely. Dont know if that helps your cause though!

If I were to put in Harlequins instead, they'd be great for capturing objectives or manuevering on the enemy flank. Perhaps I'm just second guessing myself. Oh, just out of curiosity, can the Biel-Tan still take aspects as troop choices?

I would love to, I have over 8K, but have no bikes because I hate the mini's (I do have some Spears, they are tooo tempting!) and because I saw a new prototype at Games Day I havent invested. I dont think they will release that for a while now though! They are so cheap in points they are more than worth it if you have some or can stomach the mini!

[edit] AHA your edited the bit out about about bikes! Harlies are great no doubt! I have issues with the fluffyness of fielding them to much so I'm a bit off them!! But one of our best units, they are fast, but i would simple prioratise getting them into CC as that is all they are really good at, having them hang around for to long on an objective is suicide unless in the last turn.

I would give the Banshee leader Mirror Swords, purely for the Extra attack. My memory is screaming something about 'WOOKIE SAID THAT' but currently I dont trust my memory. It has screwed me over too many times of late...

On a side note, grats to you Hairy for Primarch status. Only just noticed.

Back to the Eldar, I would put more points into your Autarch, but thats because I am in favour of tooling up heroes/characters/w.e you wanna call it to the maximum. If they are gonna be feared, make em really feared IMO

well that's the good thing about the autarch, he already comes loaded with gear 3+/4+ save, a pistol, plasma and (more importantly) haywire grenades, plus fleet of foot means all he really needs is a pointy stick for the assult phase. anything else is just window dressing. also, the cheaper he is the fewer points he gives away when he dies

BTW, What about the Biel-Tan? Can they still take Aspects as troop choices and Guardians and Rangers as elites? That's the way it was back when I played, and I kinda hope it still is. I love aspect warriors, especially scorpions.

Its been said but I'll say it again:

Pathfinders are excellent! +2 to their cover saves and on a +5 to hit they get AP1!!!!

Always hit on +2's and always wound on +4's! Pinning is an over looked gem too!

Just infiltrate them to cover and the only thing tak
