Blog Entries: 4 | I recently played a combat patrol with my new Eldar force-now I admit Im still finding my feet with this force (I'd never played Eldar before the new codex came out), but I was quite comprehensively handed my butt on a silver tray (with a ribbon around it). So heres my question then:how do you guys build your combat patrol forces, given that Aspect warriors take up so much of the points if you take them but they arent flexible enough to be multipurpose (like Marines), all the HQ choices cant be taken (because of the restrictions) and same with Transport Vehicles and a large part of the heavy support! I was thinking of Guardians with a Support Platform (missile launcher to be multipurpose), a squad of Swooping Hawks and maybe a another Support Platform (Vibro Cannon)? or a Vyper (Scatter Laser)?Id have to check the points but those are my first thoughts?!

| Hi I like rangers and Vypers with the EML fitted this alows for the Tau transport to be taken out at a good rang. I also field the Guardian Squad with a Scatter as again I keep the distance and try to whittle the numbers down from a distance. |

Blog Entries: 4 | The Scatter Laser does seem to be the weapon of choice for Combat Patrol as it is ideal for both Infantry and Light Armour such as a Chimera. Back to the drawing board...

| One thing you could do is not use combat patrol rules... just play 500 point battles (its only 100 points more). And, if you want, make sure your oppent doesn't pull and LRC in 500 point game trick. (man... that would suck badly).

| Trooper ![]() | A friend of mine has a nasty Eldar 400pt list that put a stop to my 400pt Drop Troop Guard rampage (we were both undefeated and fighting for 1st place very dramatic ). Basically what he takes is a squad of Dire Avengers with no heavy weapons and a Exarch with a power weapon, a squad of Spiders with Exarch w/dual spinaret? guns(sorry i dont have an Eldar Codex!) and 3 war walkers with scatter lasers. The Avengers die pretty quick. But the spiders are a pain in the ass when they are popping up all over the board and laying down a pile of S6 shots only to warp away during the Assault phase! In the end it came down to his Warwalkers and my Sentinels in Close Combat which I sadly lost All in all it was a good game and a very formidable list to play against.Hope this helps! |
