Default Sword Wind

Yo to you all

always liked the idea of a sword wind army and in a moment of weakness i went out and bought the codex so i could write up a list. see what you think.

autarch jump generator power weapon fusion gun 115

10 banshees exarch mirror swords warshout 187

10 scorpions exarch biting blade shadow strike 197

6 dragons exarch firepike 116

2x5 avengers exarch twin shuricats bladestorm 92 + 92

6 hawks exarch sunrifle skyleap 156

6 spiders exarch twin deathspinners powerblades surprise assult 169

3 shining spears exarch sunlance withdraw 157

5 reapers exarch eldar missile launcher fast shot 217

well there you go, only 58 minis on the ground but all the aspects are repersented. will probably get pasted ALOT but will look damn good doin it! who knows i might even win a few if i can figure out how to use it properly as theres alot of versility in there.

I'm not a huge fan of Scorpions or the new exarch, but as far as keeping to the fluff, this army looks like a but kickin' biel-tan list...

I'm more of a gamer than a fluff guy so I'm lookin' at something around...

Farseer - guide, (maybe doom or fortune)

10x dire avengers, bladestorm extra shuricat
10x dire avengers, bladestorm, power weapon shimmer shield
10x storm guardians, 2x flamer
10x storm guardians 2x fusion guns

10x howling banshees, warshout, executioner
waveserpent
5x wraithguard, warlock
waveserpant
6x Firedragons

Falcon, scatter, holo (engine upgrade that ignores stunned...)
3x war walkers 3xscatter, 3x shuricannons
Wraithlord (maybe) or 3x walkers, 6 starcannons

7x Swooping hawks, sunrifle
Maybe some warp spiders... depends on points...

Yo to you

Well yours certainly looks like a more competative list, should do well at tournies. I only really constructed this list, and indeed started another army, for 1 reason, i get bored quickly when painting the same combination of colours! So what better than an army in which every unit is a different colour? I'll probably throw in some more tactically flexable stuff later on down the line but for now...

No, I think you're list will do well, and I alway applaud players that stick to the fluff of their army. My only observation is with the firedragons. Every list I've seen has these guys with an exarch with firepike... Why? Is it because you can? The way I see it, you're spending an extra 20+ points on a model that has a slightly better stat line (not that it matters, his forte is shooting anyway) and an extra 6" to range on his 1 shot. I think you could save a lot of points by simply dropping this guy down to a regular trooper. Meltas at BS 4 is awsome. I seriously doubt any tank will stand up to these guys for long... Even without tank hunters. Your average score per shot is 8+7 = 15. See many AV 15 tanks out there? That's why I think its a little overkill to give these guys tank hunters as well. But, it's your call.

Thanks for the applauds Gotta admit the only reason I'm takin the firepike is that the mini looks so damn cool! And the better stat line may come in handy iff the shootin phase goes pear shapped and I have to crack out the melta bombs. Good thing I didn't take tankhunters for this squad, I think its overkill too.

yeah, but in regards to the melta bomb thing... You don't use weapons skill value on them as they have to be clamped on. Dreads can only be hit if immobilized, everything else depends on whether or not it moved last turn and how far.

thought using melta bombs granted 1 attack in cc resolved as if a short ranged melta gun attack?
