| I need to know if the Avatar is worth taking, or if he is a waste of points. I am trying to decide between the avatar, an autarch, or a farseer.

Blog Entries: 1 | personally I dislike him, but if you deck out an Autarch or farseer properly they cost the same in points. The avatar is a scary opponent for people to face if you put a squad of scorpions around him...well he is scare to face anywhere and he can kill tanks with the wailing doom (I think thats the name) or with his bare hands if push comes to shove. Generally he likes it best in a melee ![]() Not quite as flexible as a farseer or autarch but he is better at what he does then just about anyone. And It'll give your local SoB player a head ache and a heart attack ![]() ![]()

| ill be honest. it will strike fear into the heart of your enemies. To see that badboy stomping across the board is just as bad as seeing a Greater Daemon come to you or even a Daemon Prince. to be even more honest its just as good to have a Wraithlord on the table and its better points wise because it can shoot. just keep a cheap spirit seer near it. Over all its a big ole morale hitter but its a monster in combat just make sure you can get there |

Blog Entries: 1 | to get the same affect with a wraithlord the points look like this: Wraithlord Wraithsword twin-linked flamers Eldar missle launcher 125 points 30 points cheaper then avatar The wraith lord has lower BS and WS but has higher strength and toughness lord has I 4 and the wraith sight can but him out of action if you aren't careful S10 T8 BS&WS4 has 2 attacks so gets bogged down in a unit easily With a wraithsword he can re-roll missed combat attacks but can still be hit by the enemy easy Avatar has double the lords attacks A4 Avatar has better I with I6 Inspiring means that he can hold up an entir part of your battle lines because all eldar around him become fearless Avatar has WS10 and BS5 so in combat not much can touch him while he will almost always hit and BS lets wailing doom kill something every turn with very little chance of failing But the avatar has S&T 6 so he won't be smashing tanks as easy in CC but shouldn't need too because wailing doom means he is packing a melta gun and he will get bogged down in a swarm as he can only insta kill bugs, guard, tau and fellow eldar There are the facts over all the avatar is a better combatant but isn't as long rang as wraithlords can be

| I love the Avatar, as I think the background behind it is just great. Also, he's really tough! With the 'Inspiring' special rule, he can make your entire Eldar force within range Fearless! Stick him near a couple of units you need to stay together and he's awesome. Being impervious to flamers and meltas is nice, and in combat he can tie up just about anything, if not kill them straight away. So, I like him. But I usually take an Autarch as well in a 1500 point game, as they also give helpful bonuses. So, take both! If you can fit 'em in, that is.
