Default dealing with armoured targets

okay, i've realised a major weakness in my guard after my 3rd league game tonight - i can't deal with enemy vehicles...

our league is set at 1500pts and so far, i've faced the following vehicle combinations;
game 1: 1 vyper + 1 falcon + 1 wraithlord
game 2: 1 furioso dreadnought + 1 drop pod
game 3: 1 vyper + 1 wave serpent + 2 fire prisims

the most damage i've done so far - i imobilised the stupid dread! yep, even hitting a fething vyper in game 1 with 3 krak rockets didn't garner a single glancing hit!!! (yes, i rolled 3, 1's for my attempt to glance/penetrate...)
so basically, what the hell is left to try when all your so-called "anti-tank" guns can't even garner a single glancing hit?!!

at 1500pts, my guard list includes;
- 4 rocket launchers
- 2 meltaguns
- 1 autocannon
- 1 plasma gun
- 2 plasma pistols
- 5 grenade launchers (for the S6 krak grenade!)
i figure i have enough anti-tank shots, especially since those grenade launchers can easily deep strike behind the offending vehicles, but they don't ever seem to even glance their target? (and yes, i've tried new dice - rather i've tried $30 worth of new dice! )

tonight was the worst; 70 odd guardsmen dead to 2 fire prisims... the rest of the eldar army combined only killed about 20 or so!

cheers!
- a throughly disheartend stitch

'Stitch... I have a grand proposition for you. I have been given new dice, and have a box of Chessex 'D6' dice, well over twenty of the beauts. These dice were just recently found from the move, after I started using my new ones. I will donate them to you, for with them I have never lost!

Short of that, start sacrificing some of those you eat to the Dice Gods. The list, statistically should work.

i see no basilsk, lemans, or even demolishers! how can you expect to defeat anything with out at least one basilisk! heck last week my basilsk account for 20% of the enemy casualties with rolling 6 on ordanance penetration and when you already have a str 9 weapon you can pierce any armour and kill those surrouding the vehicle!

Do remember her style of army. Drop troop. Not very tank heavy lists.

hmm ah yes. well i just suggest sacraficing the unattened game store kid or getting some loaded dice and mix them up with your regular dice. honestly with all the dice that are usually on the game board no one is gonna notice that 3 keep rolling 6 every time

Stitch, your list looks fine! Its just your abysmal luck holding you back...

As others have said, sacrificing unattended game store kids (that aren't me!) or perhaps power-gamers should do the trick...

Other than that, I can't help!

Stich, i would use autocannons, there cheaper then lascannons and can take out eldar armour just fine. Also you play drop troops no? IF you still do i designate a "suicide squad" (special weapons squad) with demo charges and melta guns , i wait until they dig it in a deep strike em, they give the tanks hell 3/4ths of the time.

lol
silly skaven
but when brass orbed characters or jezzil teams blow themselves up, its a distraction from the otherwise serious buisiness of warring with the stunties/gobbos/skinnies

but when guardsmen do it....not as funny.
straight melta-guns on suicide squads is much more effective...or you can be on the sly and fire the other weapons in the squad BEFORE the satchel charge. hopefully then you wont have to have resorted to the breifcase of
C8 high explosive

sadly though, multiple wound T4 targets are just too tasty a target for the satchel charge!
if it works, all those wounds go bye-bye pretty darn quickly...

cheers!

Yeah I don't see any problem with your army selection for dealing with enemy vehicles. Aslong as you are able to get the shots on them they only thing you can do is pray. So have you tried boiling your dice in water I've seen that work. Since I'm in Japan I'm thinking of finding a virgin stream at the base of a mountain to wash away the evil ju-ju. Ju-Ju is the damnation of strategy.

against the tau i threw it at the large crisis suit bodyguard squad... sadly only a couple drones bought it thanks to those rubbish over-sized bases the suits come with... (i only caused 2 wounds and the 2 shield drones took the hits for the squad...)
when it works though, that demo charge is plain nasty!

i think it might be time to give into the wispered promises of tzeentch?! perhaps praying to the great lord of fates might help me?!!

cheers!

Sister! You travel towards dangerous grounds. I must warn you that if you continue to travel on this road i will be forced to take matters into my own hands! Cast the Daemons out, purify the body, shut your mind to the whispers, quell the bloodrage, remove the hunger from your soul! Stay true to the light of the Emperor! Stay true!

Just use your opponents dice next time.

These are the hallowed dice I mentioned...

Give into Chaos, and fear not the yipping of that fledgling lap dog. Chaos will obliterate his soul before the fires of its sublime power.

I have a good idea for your drop troops. If you use Sentinels then you can drop those too. So equip them with Hunter Killers and Autocannons or Lascannons and drop them behind the tanks like you did your demo squad. I think that this option with keep your fluff while preserving some kick ass weapons.
